well I have some things to ask and point out... (to my very limited knowledge but I think I'm right anyway)

first of all, wouldn't the vikings be kind of important in the dark ages? and what do you mean by celts?

second, I think chazars would be khazars. and burgundy in the dark ages? I'm by no means any historian, but the others on my team are into it, so if you need some ideas you could visit my mod (sig)

and most important, will you make like 3-4 games in one? because I believe there are a faction limit of 21, and you have already filled up 16 spots. I think you want to take a look at http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=42905 for things you should know when planning factions, units etc.
you could solve this by programming some copying one sub-mod, for instance dark ages, over a high medieval sub-mod. but making all these mods seems like hell of a lot of work to me :sweatingb

just trying to help you think about how to pull it off

thanks. Yes I did forget to include the Scandinavians (The vikings were only the explorers a common mis consecption) I'm not th eproject manager but I do think that it is 3 games in one (Dark ages, middle ages, renassiance) I always thought there was 17 slots but I could be wrong. Burgundians were in the late dark ages (9th century the I believe kingdom of burgundy) My mistake again I ment scots.... About the spelling of chazars (or kazars) I have historical maps of europe and it is spelt with a "Ch". Pardon me for asking but which mod are you from because we could perhaps from an allaince... I am in need of other historians... Anyways thanks for your help and I will fix the factions a bit.

there are 17 slots in vanilla RTW if you exclude the tree roman factions + senate. I don't think these restrictions hold for BI.

I still wonder about the factions though, renaissance? I think you'd have to choose some large generalized empires then instead of for instance finnish tribes? or the avars in the renaissance? the avar state was sort of asorbed in the early 9th century, by the Franks, the Bulgars and merged with slavs. also, I believe there are several historical names for scotland up trough the period your mod covers

well I won't bug you with it, but you sort of should set up approximate start/end years

    btw

    nice
the word viking means scandinavian, or scandinavian warrior in old native scandinavian, and isn't limited to the explorers only. however I would stick to scandinavia or something like that rather than "the vikings"

Thanks! I'm not a lingunist but I am pretty sure your right about the language. The word viking as you mentioned was the word for the warriors or explorers.

ya were still working on years. Of course these factions that I realised are only for the dark ages, for and if we're doing the renaissnace, I'll look for the major countries or empires. I'm not a big fan of the renaissnace so that is why I'm looking for some more help (that's the third time I've mentioned that).

in my opinion you should start from 843( peace of Verdun)

That is a possibiltiy. But I don't know when we would start the medieval era. Perhaps right before the battle of hastings... That does leave about about 150 years (300) turns... Hmm... Researching for a mod is such hard work. You have given me a definet possibility. *scratches head, paces floor*

    Thanks!

Yes it is. Things are a bit slow unfortunately because of the lack of staff. We have one (maybe two) historians, a moddder and I think three skinners (I'm to lazy to check). Right now we are trying to get research done, so the skinners can start skinning and we can start creating banners, faction etc. Right at this moment I should be working on banners. But at the moment I only have acces to a dial-up computer and it is incapable of uploading any pictures or anything off the internet... But yes the mod is still a go as far as I'm concerned

    Update

    Western Frankish empire
    Eastern Frankish empire
    Papal Frankish empire,
    kingdom of Merica
    Wessex
    Northumbria
    Picts
    Wales
    Irish Kingdoms,
    Asturias
    Emirate of Cordova
    Byzantine Empire
    Denmark
    Khazar emipre
    baltic tribes
    Slavs
    Bulgars
    Arabs
    Scandinavians

    That makes 19 factions

I have decided that the best starting period for the dark era would be Charlemanges death. This is when the emire was divided for his three sons. The year is 814 I believe or somewhere around there. From when it goes to I was thinking around the Norman invasions (sciiky and hastings) but that is still being decided.

Anyway I am having a real hard time finding faction or banner icon for the Baltic, Slavs and the Emirate of Cordova. If anyone has anything that I could use please do not hesitate to give me anything!
