Have you tred verifying the game files via steam (also has it completely patched if its new there are alot of patches to install unforunately )

It will patch automaticly via steam and although it usually says not ready to play when you start it i did have it once try to start but hang due to it still getting files

Heroes Hordes & beyond The official submod of KGCM (click the sig)

I used to have that problem when i the new update came out it made my computer not be able to load the game or i had to leave it for a long time.

This is what i do to get my game running now:

1)set my screen saver to 5 mins
2)start the game and then leave for 5 mins to let the screensaver come up
3)comeback with the screensaver there but unable to render the image (dont worry its just because the game is taking up all the processing power)

4)then move the mouse to get it to go back to the destop and it usually loads or sometimes it wont recognise your moving the mouse so press alt and tab and it should take you to the game window or just to desktop. i then click on the napoleon tab and it usually loads

    5) if it doesnt load then i leave it for another 5 mins and it will load. only takes max 10 mins rather than taking 2 hours that it did before.

i usually have the screen saver set for 1 min and then when it comes on i alt tab out of the game and change it because if you leave it then the screen saver will come up. (annoying )

    Moved.

    It can be many things.

Have you verified your game cache as already suggested?

For this game, disable the screensaver. It will only get in the way.

I only use the screensaver to get the game started and it works everytime for me.

Then do what ever you want to.

@raphael, have you installed directx 9.0c, C++ 2005 SP1, and .Net 4? Have you verified your game cache? Do you have permissions set for Napoleon and Steam through your firewall/router/security software?

Read the link on the dxdiag. Win7, may have to adapt some.

Norton could and/or Windows' own security layer. You may disable Norton and find Windows is blocking you or vice-versa.

    Is this it? http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...odTypeId=12454

If so, you have minimum for ram for Win 7 per CA. If anything running in the background you lose it. What is on your graphics card cannot make up for it.

You have to install the files I listed to have a chance.

Game Booster would probably help in your case.

what files would those be? and have game booster already
and im not sure about the com though

and in the background means firewalls, internet, windows media player and stuff?

Background things you don't need to play the game like MSN, MIRC, autoupdaters including Windows Update, etc.

Singleplayer, you can set the game to offline mode and disconnect and then you don't need your firewall.

The does need Windows Media Player.
