Default Non-royal man of the hour

I wondered if there was a way to make 'Men of the hour' to normal generels as if they got promoted instead of putting them into the familly tree. That would be really cool and much more realistic to have pure military characters.

It annoys me that every round my nobles try to adopt some stupid fools instead of getting some children. I want to have a small royal familly and an inferior society of generals which do not belong to the familly tree. Is it possible to adapt the 'Man of the Hour' messages and adoption requests so they don't make the concerned character royal?

Sorry, hardcoded. You can disable man of the hour in general but you can't change its mechanics.

I'm playing as Harad and my adopted generals are much better than royal ones lol.

Yes, that's possible. The thing is that I want the bloodline of my family to be pure and additionally there should be generals which got promoted but unfortunately it seems to be impossible.

Well, what about if generals could be able to recruit from barracks and then disable adoptions?

i don't like this idea, because it will take another portion of money, while early economy is very vulnerable

I like the idea of having a royal bloodline tree separated from a military tree. Though it's probably hardcoded
It would be cool having a system of rankings in the military tree (the military tree only has living characters, a dead general isn't part of it anymore..)
Then you can choose who's at top (a member of the royal bloodline, or just your best general).
Yet for the AI, it would be better to have many members of the royal bloodline, otherwise they die because you kill their royal bloodline..
OR when your bloodline dies, a new one is started from one of your military generals Which is even harder to code

Where do you need so much those adopted generals? I haven't accepted them for long, long time and it hasn't never slowed me down.

Taking adoptions away would only lead to so that player couldn't just spam generals and conquer everything with them. And thats same thing like adding spikes behind the gate: cheating

Well there is no real penalties (real family members might get some bad traits) but you can steal a candy from shop and never get any penalties either but still it's... wrong

I hear what you are saying Gloin, but I just take 'em in and then refuse them permission to marry. I then march them about with their benefactor, like an extended bodyguard. I try not to accept any 'men of the hour' until my heir is married and sprogging, but I have no idea if this affects marriage and births!

I love the idea of recruiting generals, and it would be uber cool if their traits could be tweaked to improve if they spent, say, three turns in a city with a military academy, etc., etc. Be nice to be able to invest time in improving the dim-wit nobles that my families sometimes produce!

As far as I know Deedlit man of the hour dosen't apply to generals but is an event triggered when one of your army's fights without a general. The captain then gets the offer of promotion to generalship and the family tree if he does well. Thus giving u a new general unit from nothing.

At least u can choose to reject these and marriagable ones and only pick the best. Coming of age generals usually suck and u have to keep them. Still there are always suicide missions to keep your costs down
