Icon5 The feel of the game....

In DotS are you going to try to recreate that 'dark age' feel that was so nice in mtw1?

Well I think we are just trying to represent the medieval world accurately. So, some aspects of it are quite dark but others aren't. But overall the game (at the moment at least) has quite a dark feel. It actually feels slightly other-worldly (in my opinion) and this is because we are trying to portray it accurately and not trying to not base it on preconceived notions of what the medieval world was like.

Well, said, Ed. That's the way it goes, we will just represent Medieval World as it was.

Of course, this goes less for the Byzantine and Islamic worlds. Oh, and Sicily.

Ah yes, of course. He was responding to the OP. I thought he was responding to Ed and Brennas which thoroughly vexed me.

Well obviously this is a game, so we do want to make a Medieval atmosphere where things are dark and slightly earthy for gameplay immersion purposes, however we also want to suggest that it was not all war and sewage and premature death - the music and artwork will be primarily contemporary to the Medieval period including everything from the expected reverent psalms and grey stonework, to the less well known upbeat secular jigs and colourful tapestries.
A new mobile phone tower went up in a town in the USA, and the local newspaper asked a number of people what they thought of it. Some said they noticed their cellphone reception was better. Some said they noticed the tower was affecting their health.

A local administrator was asked to comment. He nodded sagely, and said simply: "Wow. And think about how much more pronounced these effects will be once the tower is actually operational."

That sounds better. I just asked because in vanilla the strat map seemed too 'peaceful'.
