of course Turkish Sultanate
The Kingdom of Makuria
and i still do...it`s my first and only
Somehow i find it interesting.
I was browsing trought the factions and i saw the makurias
pictures of some tribe unit on the first page , and the deskription of strenghts and weaknesses so i think to my self why not.Interesting position, strategically good.
I àm not too much fan of the vary strong factions.
I mean i played with armenia in DLV 6.2 VH/VH (you start with one castle).
I was in between roman empire and turks, not a plesant sight i assure you.
Now in my campaign the Egipt faction (do no the name in BC) has 24 settlements, he crushed the KOJ and now he is at war with the Roman Empire! , I`m on the south of his borders gathering the army for the showdown.
How it will end we will see.
English is not my firs language so forgive me for some gramatical or other errors.
And if my exp was to short.
And yes one more thing for the end...only after I picked them I learned that they are ortodox fac, because i am too.
So that is ti.
As i was saying we will see what will it be.
Like Cesar one sad "Alea iacta est"
Cheers
I asked you this question because I am doing research in Makuria (BC 3 Team). I say that in BC 3 this country will become a more historically and unique than it was in BC 2.
For example look at difference between Beja camalry in BC 2 and BC 3 (javelin throwers instead lance chargers):
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
However, the Beja tribes are not native warriors for Makuria, they are mercenaries
Also in BC 3 Makuria will gain an Christian ally - Ethiopia.
Abbasids, don't know why, just see them and tried. It's still one of my favorite factions (the others being Georgia ERE KoJ and Makuria).
BC (and all the Total War games, it's the engine not the mod) lack the kind of campaign depth that games like EUIII have, for example. I would like to play a long game of intrigues and political maneuvering but that doesn't exist here. As such my choices tend to gear more toward the strengths of what the mod has to offer - great looking and mostly well balanced units that you can to an extent role play with.
So I picked the Crusader kingdoms first. The bread and butter spearmen are ugly units but the rest are good looking, and more importantly you can create different armies from different cities, which you then must replenish only from those cities - a Jerusalem army, a Templar army, Hospitaller, etc.
The reality of warfare at the time was not uniform. Armies were raised from the principality, the city, the village. The Allepans fought the Damacenes, etc. This is going to be much better represented by BC3!
But since then I've played mostly eastern factions, Abbasids, Khwarezmian, though just started with the ERE.

KoJ. And now I find it silly because I started playing this mod for crusaders (remember or not, pre-release advertisement was putting a lot of focus on those) - but then quickly moved on to playing Muslim factions.
My favourite "best ever" games of BC I had with Ghazni and Georgia.
KoJ my favourite faction in the mod and my only. I always was interested in the templars, hospitallers and the teutons! and the crusading armies as well!
^
This guy is like me. But I played other factions as well. KoJ first 'cause I want to play as crusaders after watching Kingdom of heaven and got the mod.
Eastern Romans or Byzantium and then Georgia.
The Hindu Faction, by far my most fun campaign... I was invading Persia at the time of the mongol invasion and my leader, mounted on his mighty elephant, crashed into the mongol horses... Was great. Though the longest lasting campaign i had on BC were the Eastern Romans. Espcially when i sailed my troops down from egypt around Arabia to invade india.... Varagarian axemen vs Elephants!
Makuria

Anatolian Seljuk Sultanate, my favourite faction in BC.![]()
Great Seljuks but I'm not sure
Khwarezm-Shah.
I was fascinated by them ever since I played vanilla M2:TW and found the Khwarezmian Cavalry mercenaries in the Middle East. I had never even heard of Khwarezmia until then, yet it was at its peak one of the mightiest empires in the world. When I first found out about BC, and saw the pictures of the Khwaremizan heavy cavalry, I knew straight away that this was the first faction I wanted to try.
Khwarezm
