I only started with TW Games with Empire Total War and Napoleon Total War. Both were very impressive games to me, Darthmod made Empire the better game as it is pure genius what they did with limited resources.

I have just purchased The Game + The Kingdoms Add On. Everybody suggests this Mod, so what are the major differences it makes to Vanilla and is it the right Mod to start with? If it is anything like Darthmod I will love it.

I also want to play in different parts of the world (e.g The New World.) Does this mod provide that?

What not try ending the basic game first that's what i would do.

And SS is gonna kill a noob if played in hard.

And no there is no new world in SS. Vanilla has and extended Americas mod has it.

I tried out the Vanilla game for a few hours today and I already got bored with it, haha.

It's by far my most favourite mod for Med2. Better AI, more balanced units, greater difficulty, 199 settlements, no annoying Americas, more units, more factions, MORE awesome!!

The additions to this incredible mod far outweigh the very few downsides.

If you got bored with the basic one then SS is not for you as it's slower than it.

No Americas which is good thing for the time periods SS focus on. Medieval into 1500s but before the real age of colonies started in Americas.

Many more units and regions in SS... also many submods that focus on particular area or part of history.

More focus on realistic gameplay- few crazy units which have no historical basis.

Slightly better AI though has many of the flaws of previous TW AI. The battle AI not as as improved from vanilla as latest Darthmod BAI but I have to say vanilla BAI in ETW was really bad... worse than vanilla MTW2 so the stupidity of the AI is actually about the same with both mods. IE- some bad mistakes but mostly good enough to force some actual tactics by the player.

No, I didn't get bored with the game as such, but with the gameplay and basic Al too it.

So you played only in early era and didn't encountered mongols yet. Strange how people can grow boring so fast.

Medieval II or Rome TW are quite diffrent from empire total war or napaleon total war. So I wouldn't suggest to go on mods from the start. But oh well.

The extremely high mod-ability of M2TW and its expansions make this the most versatile game of the Total War series.

There are mods that have a very high historical accuracy, others have been balanced for game play. Some are simple smash and grab, others are so complex that without a custom manual of some sort you can't grasp what is going on.

Simply have a look into the various mod forums for either M2TW or Kingdoms. You should find something that suits you.
