Just got the Penisular Campaign!

Hi all,

Well after waiting for several months from moving house to starting college and other time consuming things I've finally had time in 8 months to sit down and get this campaign!

So my question is this- what's the best faction to play as? I had a little play around with the French but got bored and haven't given the other factions ago yet. But instead of diving in trying them all like I normally do, and letting my decision be dictated by either have some sort of fasination about that country I'm aiming to go for gameplay instead of actuall history and knowledge etc.

So should it be Britain? should I try to emulate Wellingtons hard fought campaign against the French, and watch some sharpe while I'm at it? or perhaps be the French Empire and squash the rebels? or maybe even go against my morals () and play as the rebels?.

It's up to all of you- I actually think I might enjoy this little campaign, it looks fun and more about actual tactics etc rather than bulding a ginormous empire and having troops stationed every and big navys and.. I'm going on now.

Ohhhhww I thought someone had suggested something!

France is considered the hardest to play. And when I played as them, I found them to be the worst to play as out of the whole lot.

My first run through was as Britain, and I think they are indeed the best to play as. They are the main positive force, who's job it is to go out into Spain, liberating etc.

If you like the sound of the gurilla tactics, I would probably think the most 'fun' faction would be Spain.

So the intention of Britain is to liberate? sounds interesting! Think I'll give Britain a go then!

Oh, boy. Britain was hardly a Saint on the Peninsula. So was the Napoleon, though. The only 'positive' force here is Spain, as an occupied country (we have to give a little artistic license on the internal fighting between Spaniards, though, to make it more 'patriotic').

Play as spain. To make it more realistic, and harder, use lots of militia regiments.

Is Spain playable? I only glanced at the factions, I thought it was portuagul that was the other faction? or do I need to get a mod to unlock spain? I'll give Spain a try what ever I need after I have a play with Great BRitain, sounds dirty I know .

spain is main faction to play... lol... the guerilla aspect of game was added just for them...

Portugal is fun if you mod them in... but best is Britain... I prefer Spain tho and roleplay a ragtag rebel force trying to ambush french lines

Congrats! It's worth it, really!

I personally found France the easiest to play with, although I'd recommend you Britain first, to get full knowledge&fun of all new features.
