Default Glitch or do I just not fully understand

    Hi guys,

I have been playing this game for years but recently discovered a very strange possible glitch. When I view the trade-growth-public order screen for each of my towns I notice that the more units I add to my recruitment list the more income that town receives!!?

That does not make any sense to me what so ever. It should be the opposite.

    Try it yourselves

That may be due to the fact that when you add a unit to the recruitment queue part of the town's population does not count anymore, as it is "taken away" to the barracks. This means that if you have high corruption, it is decreased because the garrison/population ratio increases, thus increasing public order and decreasing corruption.

Another reason is that when you decrease the size of the town/city by recruiting units, you reduce its share of the burden to pay for troops, so with certain cheap units (peasants/lower infantry) you actually increase an individual town's income, though it definitely means you are reducing the overall income (your larger cities are bearing the cost)

    Thanks

It doesn't seem to matter what troops it is. I clicked on 5 units of urban cohorts (best in the business) and the towns income increased rapidly each time. Although you are right the other towns dropped in income.

Still doesn't make too much sense to me though why the towns finance is increased with every single unit recruited

Your empire has to pay for things (family members, builds, recruitment, upkeep, bribes, corruption).
    This is a summerized amount.

This summarized amount is split among the whole population of the empire. Each city pays for these expenses based on it's population.

If there is a city, where you reduce population it's share of expenses becomes lower, as it's population (= number tax payers) are lower.
In the meantime, the rest of your cities will have to contribute more to finance the empire's expenses.

    Cheers for clearing that up.

The reason I found it confusing was that I was trying to increase a particular towns income and just randomly clicked on a unit and noticed a rise! I see what you mean though. Just thought it was a very strange way of managing it all.
