Default would you say bye to rome when Rome 2 is Realeased

    Hi everyone.

if CA Realesed Rome 2 TW does this mean nobody would play or buy original Rome TW.

will the community quit supporting the RTW modding effort.

and how likely TW fans will look for the RTW mods.

or it is that R2TW will be unmoddable which encourage the fans to go for RTW.

Um...maybe for a bit, but if it only has 1 on 1 duels for melee combat, then I'd probably only play it around 50 hours.

I think I'd still play mods. Even if the mp moves. But there will be no point in playing vanilla anymore.

I think no one dont leave rome total war because of new version released. Many users at start like I was have bad computers to play latest released series. I bought new computer before Empire Total War and at start I played only rome total war where I sucked badly. Now when I have new computer I have learned many things and I can say I'm very good commander for now.

For me - Yes, cause Rome2 can only get better.

But maybe some mods like Europa Barbarorum still.

Probably I'll cool off with Rome for a while. I never really tire of games, even old ones. I have urges to re-install then play them again once in a while.

It really depends how good the sequel would be. It would have to be superior in everyway for me to not play again. The chances of it being superior in everyway are actually small. The graphics will obviously be better but it could adopt some new features which people really do not like.

    I prefer Civilisation 1, 2 and 3 to 4.

Although I'm very excited about another TW game set in antiquity, my fear is that even if it will be graphically amazing and offer a lot of cool stuff such as naval battles and so on, it will have some serious flaws. If we look at the the latest releases as some form of indication of what path CA have taken, a R2TW will probably look spectacular but be buggy and offer next to no modding possibilites.

It is easy to be overly pessimistic, but the reality of it all is that CA is a company out to make money, not to please a minority of modding fans. And if we simplify things a bit, the biggest part of the people that will buy their games are not history buffs, part of the modding community, they're just looking for a cool gaming experience. Compare it to a big Hollywood action movie, if you will. Say it is set in ancient Rome. The vast majority of the audience doesn't care if the historical details are completely messed up etc. They want awesome looking battles and a cool story, i.e. a couple hours of entertainment and that's it.

My point? I don't know. I guess all I'm saying is that I'm certainly not ready to toss RTW out the window yet. I'll probably never will be.

Well when it comes to RTW players and new games, they follow a very consistent pattern that has held stable trough three releases. whether it was MTW2, ETW or NTW, most of the RTW clannies bought them, tried them out, and then the majority gets angry over the MP and comes back home to rome, a minority keep playing the new game, and a smaller minority quits the series in tears. this usually takes about 6 months. i do not fear for RTW's MP at all. There is always someone to fight, and there are always possible recruits for the clans. as long as the good clans maintain a presence in the game, it will not die, and that is something their leaders should be deadly aware of.

Depends on the quality of R2TW.

To vanilla, yes. To mods, no. The MP in RTW is also very easy (no Steam!!!), so I might still play that, too.
