Invisible Rebel General!

Hi,

I was enjoying this great mod, and suddenly something strange thing took place.

I was playing as England, and after defeating Ireland, I went to kill their remaining generals.
When I was fighting, I moved my camera to see the enemy General, but he was not present!! There was just a horse with no one sitting on it. I thought general has disappeared completely, so I am not threatened by him. Suddenly the empty horse, with no rider on it, moved towards some knights and suddenly they died. This meant that he was still present there.

Have anyone seen this bug before? I will upload some screenshots I have taken, of this Ghostly General.

Yep, and exacltly the same circumstances as well- end of ireland. Methinks there is a model missing...

The General I was fighting with, was the former king of Ireland, and in this mod the Kings have different model. After losing the throne he became a General. So he should gain a General's model. But they must have been mixed and no model appeared. Is this bug occurring in any other's game?

It definately does- twas also the ex- king when I did that battle. I'm sure SF or Dave will fix it though; should be quite easy but I have no idea in the slightest when it comes to modding models

ok bear with me on this

he was the king of ireland but lost his throne and became a straight general ?? how is this in HHB as in he is no longer in control of any lands ??

Thats strange he should be still a king (faction leader ) so i am at a loss to what has made him become a standard general . Because yes if he can convert to a standard general from faction leader he would have no model as there is no scripting to give him a different model , when he converts from being number 2 man to faction leader it is by game script that he gains the king model .

The part i dont understand is how is is no longer faction leader?? fixing what has caused that is whats needed not a model the model is already there just no script to convert him back to the old model . can i see some screens of this if possible guys??(not the invisible model seen that alot when modelling and i have made a mistake lol , but the fact he is faction leader then he is not faction leader....

EDIT 1 ah ok sorry i was thinking in terms of HHB where this cant happen as even without land a king is still king i see he has become a rebel general ( i might suggest trying HHB but ill look into a way of preventing this for standard KGCM tricky to script due to the character not being in a set faction ill report back when i have a possible solution .

EDIT2 ok well i no longer have a vanillia KGCM but i believe this is happening due to the model of the irish king (all kings actually) not belonging to the slave/rebel faction if someone can zip a copy of straight KGCM here i will add ownership of the model to the rebels and see if this rectifies the problem (do you have a svae just before attacking the invisible general to test this???

I am not playing HHB, so the Irish King became a Rebel General. I think that game scripting must have been confused, on what model to use.

King's script must be stating that it must use King's skin, and Rebel script must be stating that it must use the skin of Rebel Family Member.

It will keep its original model in a convert to rebel if the model /unit has a listing on ownership in the MDB file which it doesnt for the oneil general (which is the irish king) if you can zip the MDB from standard KGCM here i can mod it to get them to work and place it back here for you to test .

But the problem is, I don't know how to extract files from Medieval 2, I have done this only in RTW.

Damn, I've got HHB aswell (just remembered

).
If you go to this directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\kingdoms_grand_campaign_mod\data\unit_models It should be right infront of you nose at the bottom. If however, there's nothing there make sure you dont have the files hidden (I think you do this through folder properties). I dont think you need to unpack the game at all.

ARe you saying you have seen this happen in HHB aswell?? if so how a king is still a king without land untill he is dead he wont go rebel ?? do let me know mate if i have to look at the core mechanics of HHB

Yeah as i said it merely as rebel/slave faction dont have ownership of the model and texture for oneil lol.

which makes it quite easy to make a ghost unit, if you change the model used by a unit in the edu to something the faction doesnt have ownership in the mdb but does have an entry for the result is a invisible unit of men (or in this case just the rider as rebel/slave faction does have an entry for the general model horse

Again either install HHB or place up the mdb from standard KGCM and ill mod it to give them ownership so that it wont happen ( i wouldnt advise modding yourself unless experienced as the mdb is a complicated file.)
