    Default EU3 - Infamy

In my campaign with Burgundy I have reached levels of infamy never imagined before. My current infamy is 124.4. The thing is I only started about a couple of wars. I was merely fighting back enemies most of the time. And vassalized almost every German and Italian sate (they attecked first). What do I do. I am hated by everybody.

Recruit diplomat-type advisors, don't fight any wars, don't annex and wait for a very long time - that's basically what you can do to get rid of infamy.
By the way, whether or not someone attacks you first is irrelevant for infamy increases if you decide to annex or vassalize them, especially if you have no reason to do so in the first placec (like casus belli, cores in their territory etc.).

Diplomats are the way to go... And peace.

Infamy is a real pain. Once you get to your levels, no matter what happens, people attack you, and you have to get more, as no way are you just going to just defend! bahaha.

yup. use the culture stuff to get it to 100% then recruit a diplomat advisor (better ones reduce infamy by -0.30 a year).

of course even having 3 of those (ive done so in the past) is still going to take a looooong time to reduce that infamy u have

as mentioned earlier; fighting defensive wars means u get no infamy for demanding monetary concessions, dropping spheres of influence, claims, treaties.... the minute u start demanding territories that u have no claims on, or forcing vassalisation etc is when u start getting infamy.

With the infamy u have, depending on how aggressive u set the AI at the start of the campaign, expect to be at war pretty much the entire game now as nations gangbang u for being hated.

Its a great excuse for a World Conquest, so that is a plus side.

Is there a way to make that infamy is removed or nothing brings infamy by playing with game files?

I suppose you could just tinker with the infamy reduction modifiers and give them an insane bonus, or give the infamy limit an insane bonus, and it would work. These come from a ruler's diplomacy bonus, so you just have to find the file that's in. That's probably a lot simpler than editting CBs.

I recommend checking out the moddding forums over at Paradox-Plaza. They'll be able to help you with specific files, but i'm sure they'll do the above.

I would suggest you to start a new game. You've learned your lesson now. High infamy not only ruins dimplomacy but also make it more likely to get bad events. Try to have a solid casus belli when conquering. Also if you've a plan of WC, hire 5-6 star diplomats + NI which reduces infamy. If you've Divine Wind, then build an embassy to further aid you. I hope it helps.

Why not simply editing the save game & change infamy to 0.

You'd have to do that everytime you went over the limit, which is annoying. What i've suggested is a mechanism that effectivly "disables infamy". Which would coincidentally, also work for the AI aswell.

But without infamy it would get unbalanced & unfun.

That's what Cenkiss asked for. Wether I agree with disabling it or not is a different matter, but if he wants it disabled, there's a way to do it.

It feels like cheating though. I disabled infamy in Victoria II and it's just.. meh.
