Registry Keys

In short, I need the registry key for Medieval 2 Total war, installed on Windows XP (sp 2 if relevant). The one that goes under hkey_local_machine/software/microsoft/windows/current version/uninstall. Exact syntax would is needed.

Ideally, I need the key entry for patch 1.2 - as I am trying to install 1.3.

Before anyone offers and alternative explanation: I installed 1.3, idiotically deleted some files, and then needed to reinstall it. I got "its already installed" message. Therefore, I deleted the keys to re-install it, however, it says now "cannot install over this version". Of course, I did not backup my registry beforehand.

Please, some type the key in detail. Thank you.

I appreciate the link to the key name, however, I also need the binary data that goes under that key. I believe it said something about "Medieval 2" and the version number. Unfortunately, its not a short entry, if I recall correctly.

You find delete these registry keys and reboot, the folder can be deleted and you can reinstall. It covers medieval2 and all four Kingdoms campaigns. No binary involved unless you have a copy bsides dvds, Direct2Drive or Steam.

I have the DVD version. I don't want to re-install it. I have a couple years worth of modifications (gigabytes), which will take hours to backup, and hours to re-apply after a clean install. The game runs fine, I just cannot install the 1.3 patch. It would be substantially easier to type in 4-5 lines in the registry, than to reinstall everything, just to apply the 1.3 patch.

You are out of luck, then. The 1.3 patch has to applied to a clean unmodded version 1.2.

The best way around it is go to the Mod Worshop, learn how to make a modfolder, put your modificaions in it, be sure you can start a campaign with it, move the mod folder to someplace safe like your desktop, reinstall and patch to 1.3, start a campaign to be sure it works, and then move the mod folder back.

Rename your existing M2TW folder. After re-install copy it over the new install.

Edit: works only if you haven't unpacked - plus some of your modifications might be outdated and cause the game to crash.
