Hello. First time posting, but I've lurked some, and let me start off by saying I love DLV.
On to my points. I've searched the forum, but couldn't find this being asked, so please bear with me if it has. Has any consideration been put into replacing the Aztec unit roster with the Apache (or perhaps a mix of Native American) units. It seems so incredibly anachronistic to have Aztec warriors with obsidian blades fighting in North America. It's like giving all the European countries Highlanders. IMO, the Americas campaign's Apache-type roster has a more "generic Indian" look and feel. Plus with the ability to use horses archers and firearms (eventually) they seem less prone to complete steamrolling by Europeans.
IIRC, in Europa Barbarorum for RTW there was a faction, Parthians I think it was, that could gain access to cataphract technology by losing 2 major battles to them, gaining the family member an "Intrigued by cataphracts" trait prompting a reform. A playable Native American faction could have similar, gaining horses, and then guns.
You can say the Natives weren't fighting like that in this time period, but the French and English weren't battling it out in Canada yet, either.
As far as I can see, this would be an improvement whether retaining a playable Native Americans faction or making them rebels to give the slot to another. The Kingdoms Apache roster would fit portraying the Algonquin, Iroquois, Sioux, etc., much better than Aztecs, IMO, and I'm Mohawk. I have no modding experience, but it seems like it'd be a fairly easy switch, to me.
Anyway, I look forward to hearing why I'm probably wrong.
