The best series of all time, the best game of all time.

I am a huge noob to this forum, but not to the TW series. I just want to hear what others think though. I still play RTW to this day, its an absolutely amazing game. I can still remember when I bought it, I went into a week long binge and when I emerged from the family office I was not sure what day of the week it was and I lost about 15 pounds.

Quite simply I dont think any series on console in terms of strategy can even hold a candle to the total war series, every game is a true experience that immerses the player in a complete game. Rarely have I ever heard anyone make major complaints about any of the game , sure diplomacy, rebels and such are small issues but the game is simply a masterpiece in terms of gaming.

If this is not the best game series on PC , or even the best strategy series what do you think is?

Command and conquer WAS dope and Starcraft is kind of like eh so so IMO, but nothing stands the test of time like these games. The only thing I can compare it to is the n64 console game Ocarina of Time in terms of a greatness.

I agree, this is one of the best games of all times.

If they made a 2nd one, all they'd have to do is...

1: Minor touch up on graphics- Touched up MedII style perhaps

2: AI (Most obviously)

3: ETW faction setup (Minor factions and the likes)

4: REALISMZZZZ

OF course the main thing they'd likely do one to the 200 power, then neglect the rest.
Perhaps we will be surprised though. If shogun2 is good, the the RTW2 would likely be the same (RTw2 is most likely to come after Shogun 2)

Definitely one of my favorite games of ALL time. Ive had it for about 5 years now and its just so i good i have to keep coming back and playing it.

The best thing about it is the mods. I highly recommend Roma Surrectum 2 if you haven't got it already as it makes the game historically accurate, far prettier to look at with its bloom effects and high res, and much more "complete" if you know what i mean.

I agree mate. I am still playing it just now. Top game and works much better now that I have a top notch PC. The battle scenes are superb

Agreed, Medieval 2 is overall slightly better, but Rome's not far behind and between them, they're better than any other game I've played.

rtw vanilla is da bomb

sp campaign is a goto whenever things get stale
mp-- best imo of anything out there-- all things considered

rtw is definitely the benchmark and any "improvements" will never compare to original---

It is a great game in which I have logged many hours and I did not even begin to play TW games till Early 2010...the only thing annoying about it is Squalor of course...other then that its damn good!

Surely RTW vanilla is amazing if only for the fact that IT IS so mod-able in the first place.

Total war saries, Fallout 3 and new vegas + freelancer (an old game, but I love it) are my getaway from daily stress.

I approve. Maybe there is some annoying stuff in it. But mind you, that is annoying just becouse we pay attention to this game a lot. And it is worth it.

Even more enjoyable is the fact that the screeching women are well-racked. In fact all the females in rtw are big-boobied..whether peasants in the city view option or on the battlefield, on foot, horse or chariot

Such things have been the subject of intense scrutiny

RTW vanilla is so unhistorical, so unbalanced, so cartoony that it's not really funny

Mods are the only reason why the game is still played imho.

And you are right about unbalanced and cartoony. The first time I tried a Rome-campaign I was shocked. Five minutes battles without an challenge (and without an AI ), some overpowered factions and dull bland music. I went back to MTW soon until I discovered mods. Europa Barbarorum is the only reason why I still play Rome.
