Battle Error

I am having this problem with TATW 2.0 battles: When i try to do a custom battle it loads, then for a brief period a black&white landscape appears with units, then an error appears: "Medieval 2 has encountered a problem and will now exit"

And I seem to have the exact same problem with Medieval 2, the manual battle loads and then the game quits.
