    Default CTD Problems

    Hi Everyone!

First of all Hats off to all the RS2 Development team for all their hard work!!!

    Now on to the problem

    My AsusG15 Laptop PC:
    Os: Win7 64bit
    VGA: GTS360M
    RAM: 8Gb
    CPU Core i7 720 1.6Ghz
    Game setting:
    low veg
    lowest unit detail
    no shadow
    no AA no AF
average FPS only 15 of big battles - is this normal
reso: 1280 by 760 battle screen 1280 by 960 campaign map

I have just started a Roman campaign and have experienced lots of CTD,
they mostly happen before a battle loads in campaign, that is right after the battle
loading bar gets to 100% OR when I click on start battle button

so what might be causing this - if you need more info on my game settings or pc just ask!

ps I am using auto save and quick save are they to blame! and why does my quick
save say - buggy save instead???

    Few more questions:
Just after the 1st roman rebellion all the little flag (my and the AIs) showing the strength of
an army or the strengh of a garrison in a city disapared!
and i can't seems to switch between building, recruiting, repairing tabs in city management menu
is this a bug or it is normal - i manage to fix it by reloading my game.

Please forgive me if my question sounds stupid, as I am very tight on time and don't
really have many hours to check every forum thread

    Thanks again

Your comp seems fine to run rs2 however if you can include how much dedicated/shared memory your GTS360M graphics card has that would be useful. Low memory graphics cards may have a problem and therefore have a decreased FPS.

In my experience a large amount of troops decreases FPS however yours does seem relatively low despite having most of your settings on low. I suggest scaling down the size of your units...assuming your on huge atm.

And auto save has always been a known issue and it is advised that you go into your "preferences" file and switch the auto save feature off. Also refrain from using quick saves and save normally before you begin a large battle.

Havnt heard of this happening before. your game sounds pretty messed up so i cant give any advice on that matter.

If all else fails you can try and fix it by uninstalling RTW from your computer then reinstalling it and reinstalling RS2 onto that. (start from scratch in other words) It shouldn't take long maybe...20 minutes. Also try to install it over a clean copy of RTW with alex expansion as the AI is better and it has several other tweaks.

It sounds as if the graphic card is struggling with the settings you are using. Maybe drop the resolution?

I've always been told that you should have the battle and strategy resolution set to the same values.

If a game CTDs during the loading of a battle that's a clear sign that the settings are too high for the PC.
