Little Questions

Hey guys, I would appreceate an answer to a few questions which bug me a little.

Firstly, in Rome and Medieval II there was sort of a "director" camera mode. Just like rome movie cam. Does such thing exist in Empire tw?

Also, when you move your mouse on a unit you see a little box which gives you the details. Is there any way to disable this box? Or alternativley disable the cursor so the box wouldn't pop up? Or simply, is there any way that this would not pop up? (need it for the films).

Maybe try to disable them in User Interface option ( in-battle options of course )?

Otherwise you will need to delete such description from ETW ( localisation.loc or ui.loc files ).

On another issue...

I tried to run fraps on ETW today. The game crashed :/ I've got no idea why, as soon as i pressed the record button, the game just stopped. Even when i tried to record the main menu. Any ideas why?

It is strange, i used Fraps too to see how many FPS i have in ETW....

Maybe you have not sufficient RAM memory or your video card is weak?

Try to lower your graphic settings.

Maybe start recording in Windows ( if you have full version of Fraps, otherwise it is few seconds available to record.. ) and continue during the ETW playing and finish recording after you exit ETW.

I recommend to download Hyper Cam 2 ( free video recorder ) to record full screen games.
I used it to record movies from Cold Fear and Brothers in Arms Road to Hill 30 ( no errors or crashes ).

Maybe try to lower the captured region ( too big size of recorded area = lag ) or lower the fraps per second ratio.

Experiment with the compression percentage level ( 70 to 90 is a good value for most games ).

I have 1GB video card and 4gig memory :/ No idea what is the problem...

But now i checked and other games crush as well O_o Hm... old version of fraps maybe?
I will download a more recent one and see. Thanks for your reply

I recommend to download Hyper Cam 2 ( free video recorder ).

It is a good and stable tool ( good quality videos ) for recording movies ( even in 3D FPP games!! ).

There is a developer camera. To activate it you need to go to C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Application Data\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts\preferences (That's for XP, not sure for vista or Windows 7) Go to where it says "default_camera_type 0; # default_battle_camera <card32>, default battle camera: 0-totalwar 1-rts 2-debug #". Just change the 0 to a 2 and you'll have the dev cam enabled. Don't edit camera options while this is active as it will turn it off.

I have wanted to get rid of this box myself, but it seems CA has removed this function in ETW. In M2TW, all you had to do in order to achieve this was to edit the preferences file. No such entry for ETW there, I'm afraid.
