Default Your Attitude Toward the USA (is this the right place to post it?)

Just wondering, I know a few people who hate Americans, I will make the occasional joke about the USA but I don't mean it.

I personally like American history, I have no idea what is happening there now but I like to study the American War of Independence and the American Civil War ect.

"I have always held the religion of Muhammad in high estimation because of its wonderful vitality. It is the only religion which appears to me to possess that assimilating capacity to the changing phase of existence which can make itself appeal to every age. I have studied him - the wonderful man and in my opinion far from being an anti-Christ, he must be called the Saviour of Humanity. I believe that if a man like him were to assume the dictatorship of the modern world, he would succeed in solving its problems in a way that would bring it the much needed peace and happiness: I have prophesied about the faith of Muhammad that it would be acceptable to the Europe of tomorrow as it is beginning to be acceptable to the Europe of today." I like the US. Like every country it has it's fault and has made it's mistakes through history. Overall, however I must say I like the US.

Some aspects I hate, some aspects I love. Overall, its OK. I can think of worse countries to be superpowers. From a British perspective they are good allies, although they have taken advantage of this alliance at our expense (Less a fault of the US and more a fault of our spinelsss politicians who bend over backwards for them). I don't think a 'special relationship' exists, just a solid alliance (And one where we are the junior partner).

I voted "they're ok" for much the same reasons as Azog: The US is our strongest alliance, and while that has been somewhat misused in the past, I'd have probably done the same thing if I had a nation whose PM supported my every move. I blame it much more on Labour than the US.

    I would vote "Their OK".

It doesn't help that the two closest cities to me are Buffalo and Detroit.

It doesn't exactly help when your area is full of Canadian shoppers littering the ground with old clothes so they can wear the ones they just bought to avoid taxes.

Oh no, used the wrong word, 'They're' not 'Their'.

    Sorry, being random.

My view of America as a country is perfectly expressed by the characteristics America has in this comic: http://humoncomics.com/scandinavia-and-the-world

I think the US is going into a very creepy direction as far as religion goes. It could well be that in 50 years time it won't be the same country it was during the 70's and the 80's.

To be totally honest I'm very glad that I'm not living there right now. Judging by current developments, northwest Europe is a far more stable and sensible place to live.
I have approximate answers and possible beliefs, and different degrees of certainty about different things, but I’m not absolutely sure of anything, and many things I don’t know anything about. But I don’t have to know an answer. I don’t feel frightened by not knowing.
