Vasall in descr_strat.txt

I want to make portugal a vasall of spain.

What is the command for the diplomacy standings in decr_strat.txt ?

Does it include that they are allied? Or do I have to add the ' portugal allied_to spain' command too?

It is not possible to set a 'vasall' state in the descr_strat file, allied is the max you can do.

The protectorate_of command works in descr_strat.txt but it doesn't make them a vasall. It makes them allies with military and trade access.

Example:

faction_relationships    france, protectorate_of    scotland

You may be able to enter some code in the AI to have them become a vassal early in the campaign but this would be much more complicated.
