    Default Changing age of princes reaching manhood

    Hello,

    I remember reading a while ago a way of changing the age at which princes become adults (from 16 to something else). I think it was similar to what you had to do to change the timescale (changing some value somewhere in the files). I remember the same thing being possible for the maximum age a faction leader can live to.

    I can no longer find this information though, even after searching all over the internet for it.

    I know it's possible as there are some mods that do this, but I'm not so interested in modding the game heavily at the moment. I just want there to be more chance of the true heir becoming the heir, and seem to remember changing these things was suggested as a way of achieving that.

    Nainyt: You are looking for the descr_campaign_db file. Here are the bits in the file you will need to change:
    Code:
    <family_tree>
    <max_age uint="90"/>
    <max_age_for_marriage_for_male uint="75"/>
    <max_age_for_marriage_for_female uint="40"/>
    <max_age_before_death uint="105"/>
    <max_age_of_child uint="10"/>
    <old_age uint="60"/>
    <age_of_manhood uint="16"/>
    <daughters_age_of_consent uint="16"/>
    <daughters_retirement_age uint="40"/>
    <age_difference_min int="-10"/>
    <age_difference_max int="30"/>
    <parent_to_child_min_age_diff uint="12"/>
    <min_adoption_age uint="20"/>
    <max_adoption_age uint="30"/>
    <max_age_for_conception uint="50"/>
    <age_of_manhood_close uint="14"/>
    <max_number_of_children uint="4"/>
    </family_tree>

    <max_age uint="90"/> (The closer a character gets to this age, the higher the chance of dying)

    <max_age_of_child uint="10"/> (Maybe it could have something to do with not inheriting traits)

    <age_difference_min int="-10"/> (I think it is the minimum age difference between a husband and wife)

    <age_difference_max int="30"/> (I think it is the maximum age difference between a husband and wife)

    <age_of_manhood_close uint="14"/> (Maybe it could have something to do with inheriting traits)

    Hi,

    I am doing this out of mind too so do not beat me if I am wrong:

    <family_tree>
    <max_age uint="90"/> Maximum Age in descr_strat for example of dead characters. Useful for extending family trees.
    <max_age_for_marriage_for_male uint="75"/> (Max age for males to be marry)
    <max_age_for_marriage_for_female uint="40"/> (Max age for females to be marry)
    <max_age_before_death uint="105"/> (maximum age before death max:128) (The closer a character gets to this age, the higher the chance of dying. At 105 in this case 100%)
    <max_age_of_child uint="10"/> (Think, the maximum age for a child in the descr_start.txt. Very unsure about this. I think I had kids above this there. I think it can be ignored as long it is below age_of_manhood and daughters_age_of_consent and age_of_manhood_close Definitly nothing to do with inheriting traits. They are triggerd in export_descr_character_traits.txt via CharacterComesOfAge)
    <old_age uint="60"/> (when old age picture starts being used) Here the chance of dying starts
    <age_of_manhood uint="16"/> (child become man)
    <daughters_age_of_consent uint="16"/> (daughters becomes a princess)
    <daughters_retirement_age uint="40"/> (daughters stop having children, Not only. They disapear from the game and the family tree if not married)
    <age_difference_min int="-10"/> (minimum age difference between a husband and wife?) Yes
    <age_difference_max int="30"/> (maximum age difference between a husband and wife?) Yes
    <parent_to_child_min_age_diff uint="12"/> (age different between kids and adult)
    <min_adoption_age uint="20"/> (min adoption age)
    <max_adoption_age uint="30"/> (max age of adoption)
    <max_age_for_conception uint="50"/> (max age to have a baby)
    <age_of_manhood_close uint="14"/> (Think have to do something with the amount of canidates offered for adoption. Hard to explain. The birthrate and the number of generals offered for adoption and marriage seems to depend of the amount of regions a faction owns. I think at an age of 14 in this case the character is considered as nearly adult and so less generals are offered for adoption, etc.. Wild theory caused by observation.)
    <max_number_of_children uint="4"/> (max kids allow)
    </family_tree>

    Thanks for the help. More problems though...

    I've edited it and it makes absolutely no difference. The princes still come of age at 16 etc.

    I've been back and checked and the changes I made did save. Any idea what's wrong?

    Sorry, fixed it.

    Didn't know I had to make a batch file.

    (For anyone readng this who had the same problem, read the readme in the unpacker folder).

    That's what I get for not bothering with readmes...
