Crash after adding new factions

Hello, I have just tried to add 4 factions to my reftofit mod. I have been taking my time going through all the files as I wanted to make sure I had them right. I transferred over all the new files and now the game doesn't load. I have used the battle_models syntax checker and that is correct. The game starts to load and the screen goes black. I hear a sound meaning it didn't load, I have to press"Esc" to remove the black screen. I have the log set to trace and have uploaded the log. Could someone help point me in the right direction.

Swagger, what syntax checker are you using to get those errors? I'm using this one, an updated version by Gigantus - http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=196382

The 4 factions I added were Ireland, Wales, Norway, and Baron's Alliance. When I use the syntax checker from above I get this as a result.

The errors from your post I believe are from the original syntax checker from KnightErrant, which do not have the added factions in the "def isfactionname( string ) :" section of the checker.

When I use the older checker from KnightErrant, I got the same error report as you listed. Those lines are where I made the entries for the new factions.

I have problem very sililar to described by Vegas_Bear
1. I've added a new faction - Armenia
2. Unfortunately after clicking on the banner of armenia the game crash (black screen)

I want to lern to adding factions, so i tryed to use armenia scripting from Regions Mod.

There is my log file:

Going by association and the fact that you have to modify that file as well, I would suggest to check data/descr_banners_new.xml for possible errors.

Gigantus, I checked the descr_banners_new.xml for possible error. I didn't see any. For sh!tz and grin I placed my old battle_models file in and ran it. I got past where I was crashing before and the log went to the EDU. It crashed there of course because of the new units in there.

So does the error occur in the battle_models, and for some reason the syntax checker isn't seeing it?

High possibility. Instead of wasting days trying to find the error in the modeldb (maybe a wrong spelling or TAB instead of spacebar), it might be easier to add the missing units (EDU) one by one to your old modeldb. Add the missing model from your log and test. If it's ok you will probably get a new error message. Don't rush and add models you know of without first getting the error! It is time consuming, but you will get into a routine (which will come handy the next time you do stuff like this) Make a shortcut to the log on your desktop and run the log on error, it will save time.
Once the modeldb is error free you should start adding the new factions to pre-existing units (small batches, frequent testing)

Your last entry refers to the faction map of armenia, maybe is in a wrong format and cannot be displayed?

Modding a complex mod like Deus Io Vult without background information is always a hit and run effort:
Have they reached the limit in regions, factions, units? Does the script support this kind of change?

May I suggest you use my Bare Geomod installation in combination with Adding a new Faction to try out your expertise?

Region Mod is mine with Gigantus' help.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Deus Vult is a Polish mod.

In Region Mod, there is room for one maybe two more regions. Factions, there are still three slots.

As i told - i don't know DLV mod, but Deus Vult is my own mod, that i'm making long time since

At this moment i'm learning adding factions and i use guide of Gigantus, but i didn't uderstand what should i change in *.sh files from UI folder.
So i've teken your mod as a reference book

Thanks your mod i know what i should make in *.sh files, but during this lesson i've made unknown error and i want to lokalize it now to copleting my learn.

Thanks all for the input, I found the error in the battle_models. It was w/ the generals/captains I added. I was missing the " 0 " at the end of some of them. Once that was corrected, the game know loads and is playable. Now just need to sort through some of the little things that will pop up. Once again thanks for you time and efforts.
