Faction Heir: setting a Regent
Hello all,
I trying to make the Faction Heir flaw a bit more historically more accurate. I would like to ajust the Faction Leader and Faction Heir traits, but I'm mulling over which trigger to use
First let me describe what I want. It happens quite a lot that a new Faction Leader (lets call him Richard) doesn't have a son that is of age. In that case Richard's brother (Henry) becomes the new Faction Heir. However when Richard's son (William) comes of age historically he would become the Faction Heir. Since this is not the case, I would like to change two things.
- The first I want to do is for Henry's "Heir Apparent" trait to become "Heir Presumptive", another scripted level in the Factionheir trait and give that to Henry. If Richard doesn't get any kids, Henry become the next Faction Leader and that is fine.
- But when William is born, he historically will be the Heir Apparent. I can give him the "Next Heir Ancillaray" and when his father dies, he will become the Faction Heir. Because Henry will become the Faction Leader, I want his "Faction Leader" trait to change into "Regent", my new scripted level two Factionleader. Since this carries the epithet "the Regent", Henry will be known as "King Henry the Regent". Also I want William's "Heir Apparent" to change into Factionheir level three "Faction Leader". That carries the etiphet "King of England", making Williams's name "Prince William King of England".
My question is: which triggers do I need for the next levels in Factionheir and Factionleader to make the above come true. I haven't come across any brother/nephew triggers for traits like the way a father can trigger traits for his son. Can this be triggerd at all or do I need to revert to the manual "give_trait <charactername> <trait name> <opt:level>"
Cheers, Haleth

Re: Faction Heir: setting a Regent
P.S. I can avoid the manual "give_trait <charactername> <trait name> <opt:level>", by scripting a certain building, lets call it the "Coronation stand". When Regent-to-be Henry builds the stand, he will become the Regent and when Faction Heir William the stand he will become Faction Leader in trait. However, how to avoid a AI player to build one of these buildings? Will the AI build anything if it doesn't have a bonus added to it?

Re: Faction Heir: setting a Regent
i always thought choosing a faction heir was hard coded and couldn't be modded, what file is this in? descr_strat?

Re: Faction Heir: setting a Regent
The Next Heir Ancillaray lets you pick a family member who will become heir. So you can not change the heir himself, that is hard coded. I haven't figured out if the Ancillaray overwrites the normal selection of picking the oldest son of the new faction leader to become the new faction heir.
