trouble with my preference.cfg file

whenever i add

[io]
file_first = true

to the file, the game loads up fine and the changes i have made to units run properly. but whenever i exit out of the game, that line of text is removed from the file. and i have already removed it from read only and changed it so that i am allowed to edit the file. any reason it keeps getting removed and is there a way i can get it to stay there?

The best way is after you edit and save the file is right-click it, click properties, click read-only, click okay, and enjoy.

oh i hadn't hit read only after i edited it. thanks that fixed that problem. only now whenever i try to start the game it just goes back to my desktop? i'm starting to think it doesn't want to be played.

edit: it turns out i put my custom values on their stats too high, i lowered them and the game runs great. thanks again.
