For a long time I've experienced the sudden ctd problem in ETW and NTW, mostly when I was in mid-battle. ^( I've reinstalled everything for some times (playing both games since the release), changed hardware but didn't get rid of this.
Few days ago I've finally found the solution! Here's the instruction:
    1. Press start -> open command line with admin rights/(type cmd and press enter)->type there " bcdedit /set nx AlwaysOff " , then press enter. -> Reboot
This step turns off Windows service that allows data execution prevention, it makes other programs not to use memory space not intended for them, mostly by killing them . Microsoft believes that it can protect user from modern viruses, trojans and etc .
If you have same views with MS , then don't do step 1.
    2. Turn off sound cashing in game sound options.
    3. Turn off vertical synchronisation in game graphics options.
The first step solved 75% of my battle crashes. 2nd solved others. Step 3 helped me with stupid crashes after loadings.

It's guaranteed solution with crash errors like this (at least I believe so):
    Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
    Application Name: Napoleon.exe
    Application Version: 1.3.0.0
    Application Timestamp: 4c2b2f64
    Fault Module Name: StackHash_0a9e
    Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0
    Fault Module Timestamp: 00000000
    Exception Code: c0000005
    Exception Offset: 00000002
    OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.768.3
    Locale ID: 1033
    Additional Information 1: 0a9e
    Additional Information 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789
    Additional Information 3: 0a9e
    Additional Information 4: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789

Some string may differ, but red strings are common and main for these crashes.
