The error is odds are a disc error. Have you cleaned you disc and checked it for dirt, fingerprints, scratches, etc.?
DVD is Toasted with scratches etc just cross your fingers and clean it etc and hope it installs.
I have been getting the same error in Win7 for the pack2 file. It stops installing at the same place each time. The disc is spotless.

If you have cleaned the discs and can find no scratches, dirt, fingerprints, etc., can you try it in another computer to see if it is the disc?
Another question to ask is if any of you that have this problem have been able to install the game previously on the same system. Have any of you upgraded recently?

I have, it's a brand new everything so I know it's not the DVD drive. I remember having a similar, if not the same, problem the last time I tried to install (in fact, every time) but the forum doesn't let me search that far back.

No joy. It stops dead at data_2.pack.

Did the dvd work nefore?
Can you try to install it on a different computer?
Of course it worked before, I've had it for three years and have installed 3-4 times. I don't have another working PC.
I put my old HDDs into this PC so I will try copy/pasting the offending file from that install before trying the above method again, later today.

Good luck.
Well, I've been playing the Teutonic Campaign for the last few hours so that seems to have worked. Still, if I didn't have it on another drive I'd be buggered because that file absolutely refuses to be accessed on the disc.

There is always that chance the disc has gone bad, too. Things made by humans are finite.
