What would be easier to mod if I wanted to do this?
So I've been contemplating this for the last couple of hours. I love XGM, and because of being able to play as GCS, I'm inspired to create a Greek-oriented submod/mod of an earlier time frame. I was thinking of putting it in the time frame of around 480-450 BC, before Alexander, when the Greeks were fighting the Persians. I would put more emphasis on the different unit types of Sparta, probably make Athens a separate faction, turn the Parthians into Persians, etc.
So my question is, in your guys opinion since I'm sure this isn't the first time someone has asked it, do you think it would be easier to accomplish this based off of XGM or vanilla RTW? I'm leaning towards basing it off of XGM since there's huge chunks of it I would probably want to keep such as the expanded buildings, a lot of the models, units, etc. but there's also a crapload of stuff I would have to alter or change to accomodate for the different time frame.

Isnt the mod "The Greek wars" about that?

Rise of Persia covers the period up to the Persian invasion of Greece. Hegemonia covers the period around and after the Persian invasion. The Greek Wars covers the period between the Persian invasion and Alexander. Rise of Persia and the Greek Wars are both available to play, I think Hegemonia is still in progress.
If you do want to start a new mod I recommend starting with XGM as a base just because a lot of the work is done for you.

Hmm, I looked up them both...maybe I'll just wait for HEL to come out. I've researched it a bit and it's damn near exactly what I'm looking for. Beats doing it myself.
