How to edit EXISTING historical events.
I. Introduction.
An event is a message box that appears on the player's turn in Grand Campaign mode.
Every Historical event in Grand Campaign of Empire Total War: has name, text description, image and date.
The default event *.tga images are stored in ui.pack.
The list of ALL default events is located in events_tables inside patch.pack.
All events in ETW are dated from 1700 to 1800 ( season summer or winter ).
The event text description are held in localisation.loc file inside patch_en.pack and local_en.pack.
Important: Before any changes make a backup of the proper pack files first!
===================================================================================================================================
II. Main Part
1) Download Pack File Manager 1.13 from TWCenter.
2) Open the file called : patch_en.pack.
3) Find a file called: localisation.loc.
4) There will be a list of events plus their descriptions.
5) Find a proper event to edit, i.e: events_event_text_kidd_hanged.
6) Save the changes.
7) The event message description will be changed!

Re: How to edit EXISTING historical events.
In files of scripts where that lies, there it is necessary to correct
To date or season corrections doesn't react.

Well.
I don't know where exactly in scripts is closed, it only my suspicion. There can be I am mistaken.
For a long time still tried to correct an event date started, didn't leave. Therefore I do as it is written in this grant.

Re: How to edit EXISTING historical events.
Yeah, maybe some information are hard-coded in ETW and impossible to change?
I didn't tell you that i could edit existing events dates.....so you must try it on your own.
For sure you could change the existing event description.
I edited all necessary files ( 3 files to edit to add a new event...ufff ), but my mod don't work...
You could also delete the default historic event if you want to ( if he is not so historic accurate...), no problems in Grand Campaign - the event is only a message, not a texture, model or other important ETW file.
Hmm, the event date is held inside one of db tables in patch.pack file and in main.pack file in events_tables. Try to change the dates using Pack File Manager 1.13 - great tool.

Re: How to edit EXISTING historical events.
Meanwhile not all files open, therefore to add not probably new events. But I think in due course it will be possible!
Not only events are closed, but also characteristics, and followers. It is impossible while to add. I think a problem in the scripts which are in ui.pack

Re: How to edit EXISTING historical events.
Hmm, in ui.pack they are in general *.luac files ( game buttons and panels ), but yes a couple of other scripts too....
In ui.pack you could find ALL default event images and icons in the whole Grand Campaign grouped in categories.
So, to create new event you should pick up also an event image.tga i.e Industry_european.tga.
Inside event text description, you could put whatever text you want...
In example: events_event_text_kidd_hanged.

Yes, i know him - but i think he couldn't help me more.
Deleting one of the *.luac's isn't a good idea - it will make a CTD for sure.

Certainly, game will cease to work.

Re: How to edit EXISTING historical events.
Late to the party but the mod ACW 3.6 civil war has scripted events showing each turn. They even managed to add that the Confederate declares war on the Union year 1861 which is quite cool. Maybe it could be worth study their mod files or ask them.

Re: How to edit EXISTING historical events.
The scripted events from ACW 3.6 is actually missions:

So basically they programmed missions that trigger every turn. I did a tutorial about creating custom missions here: https://www.twcenter.net/forums/show...=#post16118905
