So whenever I try to turn off cache sounds and up the max sounds to 256 it never sticks when I run napoleon again cache will be ticked and max sounds will be back at 128 its annoying because battles take alot longer to load, I have edited the pref script and that stays the same. It just the ingame menu telling me different, which one is working? Please don't say I have to reinstall

On another note does anyone know if sound cache messes with music mods?

Music mods maybe the problem. All advice given concerning cache sizes and amount of channels if for vanilla. Someone else is giong to have to do the testing for mods and post their findings per mod. Odds are they act differently.

Iam using two music mods merged together but they are two individual pack file's ran from mod manager one has campaign music and battlefield drums and the other deals with the battle map music and Intro music(main menu) could these be causing trouble with my sound cache settings and max sounds settings?

Does anyone know if the preferences script(256) overides the ingame settings(128), I cant tell if its ethier 128 or 256 sounds that are playing, same goes with sound cache aswell? If it does then its all good.

I'm playing vanilla and the sound settings don't stick as well. So I guess it's a game bug. Whether it's just the in game menu or the settings resetting itself altogether I don't know.

Have you set them in the preferences script and made the file read-only? Are they still set the same in there after you start a campaign and is the file still set read-only?

Odds are I'm reaching for straws but it could be hardcoded limits, again.

I've read somewhere that the Creative X-Fi chips are limited to 128 channels, so that could also be the cause. If you're using an X-fi soundcards that is.
Still doesn't explain why sound cashing automatically gets turned back on again.

My guess would be the hardcode.
