I just can't win

I'm not sure what has happened, but either I'm getting worse or everyone else is getting better.


I have not won an mp game since May. No matter what faction I choose, units I pick, I can't win, even with an allies.

Maybe it's time to surrender my sword and be exiled.

Everyone else is "hacking" now canuck1966. Your crappy unhacked armies have no chance of victory against our hoards of superhuman killing machines!

well u could always try one of the variety of cheats that seem too plague the game

but seriously post some of your builds and strategies and let have a look at what you do. it may be a simple as you joining the wrong games with lame rules.

i was so desperate for a game last night that was hopefully not going to crash so i had to join a ranked 1v1 game which the rules were ultra settings and line infantry only. i thought - well this sounds like a stitch up - so i went france - Elites and militia - games starts i charge and my opponent runs back to the red line but he left enough room on his flanks so i could attack 3 sides - hmmm - yes - we all know how thats going to work - NOT. Well the game wasnt too laggy so i thought id milk this game for all its worth and took my time. focusing on one flank then the other - only attacking individual units i could close in on with an elite and use a militia to absorb his fire. I was so disappointed as his flanks crumbled and my damn old guard caused his army to basically rout. If you want to milk a game dont use old guard.

Anyway just maybe stick with france for the time been - take a couple of old guard, 4 swiss inf, 2 polish - maybe 2 or 3 militia (great to absorb enemy fire or attract enemy cav into a turkey shoot) 4 or 5 voltigues (lights are not only good 4 shooting at long range but also attract your opponents attention) france really has the worst shooting lights but in skirmish mode they can take a real battering and they are dirt cheap. France has excellent shooty cav and lancers a couple of each are good. When you feel like you are playing better you can maybe add a few more cav to your build. try not to waste your cav early in the game - the end game is usually won by the player with cav advantage. If your an aggressive/ attacking player and like art just maybe use 1 horse art to keep up with your main army but this really depends on the map.

other than that maybe describe what you do or why you think u lose. just about everyone on this forum are some of the best players around and are very helpful. your in canada y the look of it - so maybe someone like pointman in your time zone could give you a few games - his advice would be priceless.

the other thing is u could be letting your opponent dictate how the game is played out - this is bad bad bad. its good if you know how to counter what your oppontent does but you wont win many games if you cant excute your own plan to win.

i had a big-ish losing streak.for me it was just a confidence drop, which just manifested itself in the way i played.however, the solution was that i just came out and attacked more, and havent looked back since then....

i lost 3 games last night and loved everyone of them,i was using russia,no arty and all my opponents were french and every game i got closer to getting my fire and advance strat working so there is more to the game than just winning

Well, I played again last night, lost again and lost another star too.

I use 4-5 light infantry, 2-4 cav on my flanks, and 1-2 art in my center. I use line infantry to make up the bulk of my army. My skirmishers are in front of my main line.

Now, I am a very conservative leader. I'm best at defense not offense. I'm sure this has a lot to do with it also.

I don't use elite troops as they are too expensive. Maybe I need more skirmishers or cav ?

couple of cav will help, you have enough skirmishers for sure.if you play conservative or slowly art will help as well

get rid of the arty if your on flat map untill you get better with the other classes,have a strong point in you build like a flank with a couple of guard and good cav,play defensivly on you other flank but attck with the strong one,dont wast your cav only use them to pin the enemy down for your line or if you can take out the opponents cav if it is weaker,but you need a strong point in you build so you have some where to make a push.

to be honest i wouldnt walk into a battle WITHOUT foot guards. They give the "inspire" morale bonus to normal foot units and light infantry and make them just that much harder to rout.

try that build and see how you go.

I dont really use france but looking at that build just shows how unbalanced this game is.

young guard arent that good. deffinatly not worth the 990 price tag, especially when the standard foot of britain is 760 and has just 5 less reload. I still rather having the young guard in there rather than taking more polish or swiss.

on paper it looks impressive but like every build it has its flaws.

british line have 6 moral,3 guard units inspire each other putting them at eager and boosting there stats not to mention they will last to 30 men at that moral level,with to cheap awesomeness French lancer units protecting the flanks and cheap light inf that can stake the ground if there is to much fire power coming there way thats unstopable and thats not even bringing the old guard and its fear factor into the equation.

I beat that build Dunk used in a 2v2 match we did.

4 Volts
5 Young Guard
3 Old Guard

just sit on the top of austerlitz with a shed load of noobicorns and do a major h. u cant lose or perhaps use the noobicorn stuka dive bomber mod.

Just take 15 Prussian lights, they will rout 2 old guard in a single volly.

im sure we will get at least one win

why not upload some replay of ur losses cause i got a hard time believing u loose every game cause lots of noobs r so bad simply setuping a lights in front line in back formation can get u an easy win cause they use the deafult formation with line in 3 rank deap formations and so on.

replays would bee nice how do you lose battles normally cannuck?is it always close, or easily lost or whatever?and how often do you play?

I play at least twice a day. My screen name is Bob. Same as my MW2 name.

I generally get routed most of the time. I played this morning but got dropped from both games.

I use Britain 99% of the time. I get beat up most on Grassy Flat Lands, usually getting out flanked. I'm always moving my lines to adjust to the incoming enemy.

My biggest problem I think is that I don't understand the role of light infantry too well. I know they help screen your main lines, but my lights are always getting shot up by my opponents light infantry. Sometimes mine don't even fire, they just stand there. I use 3-4 rank deep for my line infantry. Is that to deep? Not enough firepower?
