Noticed this post by Creative Assembly staff in the Shogun general discussion:

There was no conspiracy, no cover up, it's just a damn shame we couldn't release it.

In the future, maybe we can go back to it.

    Damn shame, indeed.

Interesting but I have to admit here in this case they shouldnt have announced anything before it was ready for release, I woudl have thought they would have learned this lesson by now, seeing how many studios make it.

''LOL, oh let's advertise it everywhere and then 9 months later let's say we tried but couldn't manage to get it right. Yeah let's do it, it will get us more $$$$$$$ for sure!''

What a ing joke, the programmers and coders (or whoever would work on it) in CA must really suck.

Oh and ''in the future'' read: ''we will bury it and never mention it again''

I think we all saw this coming. In the future CA if your going to advertise features for your products its usually standard practice to ensure those features exist. When you dont your entering into a legal grey-area. This isnt the first time you have advertised additional features that you have not bothered to release.

The point is is that they well... tried. No need to give them a hard time.

Cant say im surprised, but still pretty shoddy to advertise something on the back of a game box and then never actually deliver it. But then, this is no different to the mod tools we were going to get for ETW that never materialised. I believe their excuse for that was 'the community has already made better tools'. Poor.

Next time they try something like this and don't get the quality standard they were aiming for, I suggest they release the source code and let the community finish it; no one was asking for warranty or support.
That might not be possible because it relies on third party libraries though.

CA is now part of a large multinational company. Now CA that creates the game and is proud of it might be pleased to release modding tools, but the guy's in the top office are concerned with getting every last dollar out of it.

Its the same old argument over and over again. The same one was used for the modding tools for EMPIRE. What we found out later was that there was never any intention to release any tools. Obviously, CA is not going to give anyone any tools that are going to compete with their DLC. This has nothing to do with time, but rather with $.

Agreed....Nothing to do with time but rather money. Is anyone really shocked after the etw fiasco? Since this was advertised with the game i hope they get in legal trouble over this.
And yes i wont be buying STW 2 either.....

CraigTW earns my deep respect. He is the only one from CA who says clear words.

Kieran Bridgen was the one who promised us that CA is already working on the uniform editor, wasn't he? Where is he hiding? And why didn't he tell us the truth?

saga continues....... false advertising, false promises.... it feels like tv products -scam- ...... this product will do this and that and we will give you some extra stuff...... you buy and story is very different, so its CA TW since etw !
