But I think I have read somewhere (long, long ago) about a mod featuring a Judean faction in the vanilla RTW campaign
Maybe somewhere in the "Mod Threads" under the released mods.

LOL. The jews at this time weren't a paticularly warlike people. They did revolt under the reign of vespasian, but were utterly crushed in original Roman fashion, and we all know the story of Jesus. So playing jews would be quite boring.

They were never very significant militarily or politicaly. Only in one case I recall them actually influence the course of the great empires directly - by helping Vespasian become popular.

Don't want to curb your enthusiasm but what did the ptolemaic military ever achieve instead of squandering alexander's empire and submitting to the romans, then the persians and then the arabs and then the turks. The eqyptian's have been somebody's slave since 2500 BC. Jews have a decent military now though with israel. Im not sure if israel can be called jewish, when i went there it was full of european/american people according to the torah the jews are decendants of ibrahim and therefore cousins to arabs, so i was expecting to see middle eastern jews.

The bulk of salaedins armies were raised in mesopotamia and khuzestan. Race, creed and skin color are very important, because these are the ways people judge you whether you like it or not. War is often between tribes of people who are physically different to eachother.

you were the one saying that the ptolemies were taken over by the persians, im talking about antiquity im a friggin history major so i know what Saladin's armies did, thats the freaking middle ages in the 13th century during the third crusade, so don't talk to me about that, you were the fool saying that the EGYPTIANS WERE SOMEONES SLAVES FROM 2500 BC, did you not? and YOU said that the Ptolemies were taken over by the Persians did you not??? Brother, if saledins armies were persians and salaedin himself was from media, it was hence the persians who took over egypt, when saledin defeated the second and third crusades. I think where we have misunderstood eachother is with the term "ptolomy" i use it to mean any egyptian king/pharoh since alexanders death. i think you mean it as the ptolomic dynasty which ended with cleapatra and the famous snake bite incident.
