Best way to figure how who the next heirs will be?

In this game you can't decide who the next in line for the throne is going to be. sometimes I try to guess who's going to be the next Prince, but I'm not always correct. I know that if I save, then kill off my current prince, the game will make the next person the heir. However I was wondering if there was an easier way, and if I could accurately guess who is next in line right down to the last eligible man.

I like to use my current king and prince as my two main attacking generals, and I also like trying to get a jump on the next guy down, but not all generals are family members and I don't want to train a guy up thinking he's going to be the next prince when he isn't.

So is there a good way to tell what order it's going to go?

I think it's usually the closest relative to the king, but adopted guys are not often chosen.

The one who has most authority I think, but it is only visible for the king, however if you see traits and ancillaries, there´s a bunch who said for example "authority +2" so the one who has a lots of traits like that, has good chances of becoming heir. There are many mods that give you some tipe of transferable ancillary with some insane authority bonus, so you give it to the one you want to become the heir.
