I seem to recall that they copied a Tom Petty song. Listen to Last Dance With Mary Jane, then listen to Dani California. When I saw the thread title I hoped it was going to say she copied Dani California.

Either way, I like the Chili Peppers, but they're quite the hypocrites for this one.

They do sound quite similar actually. But the copying there was less blatant, and I suppose Tom Petty would have sued if they thought they had a case.

It does sound sort of similar. I don't think its all that much to get worked up over though. Also, as someone else said, I doubt its her fault. All these pop-stars just sing what they are given.

She said in an interview "We were listening to Under the Bridge whilst writing the song, then we listened to the song and thought "this sounds familiar"".

First off something is wrong with this chicks voice and people rip off other people all the time. Generally I don't mind seeing a little bit of other peoples work in the newest music as it just a minor influence to generally new music. However in this case her entire song was that one chorus.

I always found the intro's to Under the Bridge and Santeria from Sublime to be really similar, I can't always tell which one is coming on.
