quick update:
using the files L2S provided I've got the royal court building in the game -
just needs a little tweaking of the text file (insert a_name entry)
no need for EDU, wardog stuff or even tech tree.
I've since fixed the text entry on right.

found trying to make an interactive event for each faction too difficult so compromised.Code:---- Princess recruitment ------------------------- monitor_event FactionTurnStart FactionIsLocal and SettlementBuildingFinished = royal_court historic_event player_built_royal_court terminate_monitor end_monitor --------------------------------------------------------- monitor_event FactionTurnStart FactionType england and FactionBuildingExists = royal_court and RandomPercent > 95 and Treasury > 2000 console_command add_money -1000 spawn_character england, random_name, princess, age 20, x 82, y 219 end_monitor
when the player builds a royal_court they get a simple text notification
and after that if a royal cort exists for any faction there's a random spawn chance
- I set it to >1 and got a new princess every turn (purely for testing purposes.)
I've not given them any attributes, I see them as raw recruits who have to go out and earn their charm and diplomacy the hard way.
(in the field so to speak)
if they marry too quickly they lack charm or are a wretch.
not tested the player built royal court event - needs large city and capital hidden_resource so would take a while.

I'd just like to say that this idea was origanally thought up by Amaranth, maybe a bit of credit is due to this idea?? I know Ishan did the huge job of coming up with the breakthrough, but without the idea in the first place, no mod.

We won't be borrowing anything from anybody and besides those people are not TWC and it's not allowed to use some other guys work acc of TOS.
The main thing is to make it recuitable which i have already tested it but i still need to make it legit as it looks a bit meh right now.![]()

from my tests with the code I wrote I got 1 english princess in 35 turns which seems reasonable.
I've cloned it for factions which get princesses.
if you remove the requires royal court line they can be randomly spawned.
the RozMod already has 4 government buildings: Chancellory, Treasury, Law Courts, Parliament - which I developed -
any of which could be used instead of Royal Court, if that building is not allowed.
Or a new one - School of Diplomacy, with all new text and pix, which can also spawn diplomats for factions which don't have princesses.
I'll continue with testing to see what happens to the princesses - already had one marry a general who was then adopted into the royal family and the princess showed up OK
on the family tree.
need to do more testing to see how things like that pan out.

FWIW I've scrubbed all reference to royal court and associated files from my test-rig.
I'm running tests to see if random spawn princesses cause any problems -
RandomPercent >95 gives an average of just over 2 per faction in 60 turns.
if coupled with building restrictions that may well be acceptable.
there's a possibility there may be an issue with them seducing generals from other factions
(not confirmed)
and I got 2 from different factions with no names, which doesn't bode well.
A School of Diplomacy to recruit diplomats (or higher level College of Diplomats) to recruit more experienced diplomats
could be a fun addition - never made any sense recruiting diplomats from local government buildings !!!
actually we have something similar to this already: castle library and castle academy.
Rebadge as school of diplomacy and college of diplomacy for all factions
use to recruit diplomats instead of local govt buildings.

despite removing any trailing spaces in names.txt I am still getting princesses with no names when randomly spawned.
(no problem with princesses from royal families.)
generally accepted that characters with no names can cause CTDS.
strange - I didn't find any merchants, diplomats or priests with no names when random_name spawned.
only way to avoid problem is give all spawned princesses names when spawned - expect some sort of script could manage that.

good news is that to get them AI factions needed to build diplomat college in their capital.
Sorry that I was a little busy lately to notice this thread, and congratulations ofcourse, made me really happy to finally get a chance to train my own Future-Princesses for my Heirs, and without waiting for a bride present to occur before my Heir become an elderly man. Also gonna help preserving the pure bloodline too.

Wow. This thread has mutated considerably.
But it's nice to see the progress.
I'm afraid the images I used were just snags of samples from the net, not original files.
Well i don't like to post small updates or what it's gonna be again and again. Nonetheless i got involved and made it more complex so it's definitely way better now. There are a few limitations to this system but it's not like it's a totally useless feature and thus boosts the gameplay considerably.
Today it will be completed and i'll give the setup files to bane_tw for the beta release.
I can include it in the Compilation, right?
I think Bane gave me permission some time, but I want to be sure![]()
For beta it should be enough to release it standalone and if the smm works like I understand it it should be compatible right of the bat with the compilation. In any case I want to tag a 1.0 or 1.1 on the package before we include it all over the place![]()
