    Default RTR campaign

I can't find a 'Mod General Discussion' Forum so I posted here. If a moderater can find a more relevant forum could they kindly move it? Thanks

Anywho I decided to take a break from BI and go back to RTR for a campaign or two. I decided to play as Roma and I am starting to play straight after this post. If anyone can give me tips on where/how to expand after Italy is mine would be greatly appriciated!

Well, what im did is to make two full stacks (because you can - enough money) and invade Gaul and North Africa at the same time.

Never do this. It will divide your forces and make your empire weak. Secure you northern frontier by building forts next to the river (Po?) so the enemy can't pass. Leave a medium sized army behind otherwise you'll be screwed when suddenly a full stack of Gauls comes. After defeating Pyrrhus and his army, invade Sicily. First go for Syracuse, kick the Greeks out of the city and start constructing auxilia buildings. Recruit those feared quinquiremes: you'll need a good navy if you want to make any chance against the Carthaginian navy. After Syracuse, complete the conquest of Sicily and send a small force to Sardinia and Corsica to take both cities. After Sicily is yours, invade Africa and crush the Carthi's. Rape Numidia because if they leave them alone they'll rape you when you have your stacks elsewhere. After you have Africa you can go your own way.

i'd say, after taking italy; take sicily and attack greece. with sicily you've got a great base to invade north africa.
take Sparta, athens and corinth and keep going inland...those greek and macedon cities will bring even more wealth

Sicily, Greece and Carthage are good targets, all of them reap plenty of cash. When attacking Greece, I try to take Crete first (take lots of spies! The little island is rife with the buggers, so taking your own will stop them from causing unrest in your cities), then Rhodos. After that, the Peloponnese is easy to take and will fund the recruitment of another 3-4 Legions with which you can take the rest of Greece.

I also am currently playing as Rome for RTR, and the current situation is somewhat odd. After my conquest of Sicily, Carthage proposed a ceasfire with trade rights. It is 20 years later and they remain true to their neutrality (it has been quite profitable as well). This has allowed me to concentrate on the Balkans, where I have captured all the mainland Greek city-states and am currently facing the Illyrians and Macedonians. Every one here has mentioned to conquer the Greeks and Macedonians, dont forget about the Illyrians. Their fleets are annoying and their ports very profitable when you decide to conquer them....ok all done

I had the same with the Gauls. We remained neutral for about forty years, allowing me to crush Carthage and the Greeks. Illyria has quite nasty fleets too. In my Roman and Greek campaign they always have a huge fleet wandering around, attacking my large fleets occasionally.
