Let us be honest, although 90's saw huge increase of crappy mass produced unoriginal music there were so many jewels which many of us have now forgotten. To me, who have recently refound many of these masterpieces lately, it would be nice to get a bit help to find again all those bands from which I have no doubt forgotten most.

And I don't speak just about big names such as Nirvana, AIC, NOFX et cetra but those smaller bands which you hear only in a good party now days.

So without hesitation, let me introduce Rollins Band and Lagwagon. I hope you continue the list, if not for anything else than my enjoyment.

Eighties bands got replaced by crappy flannel wearing grunge dudes, who stared at their shoes during lives.

    Massive over-generalisations ftw

Your musical taste is probably just poop if you believe that the only band from the 90s that people consider good is Nirvana.

I was refering to the whole grunge movement. It was really bad. Few bands had the real energy that makes one fall in love with them.

The 90's produced some of the best music. It was a golden era of grunge, "skate" punk and metal. Iron Maiden, Megadeth, AIC, Metallica, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Pantera and so many other bands spurred up in this decade. In some ways you are correct however (in my opinion at least, so no offense anyone), the hip-hop and pop culture that hit through in the decade ruined main stream music to very this day.

    Next band:

Babylon Whores - In Arcadia Ego

An awesome band with highly occultist lyrics, always.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    In Arcadia ego
    Twisted the rose did grow
Sucked up the sap of this world
    Blood red the petals pearled
    With some wisdom absurd
    And outside these walls
    The night took the rose
    Bound it with moonlight
And cut it up with the morning star
    In Arcadia ego
A rose to drown in snow
    A sepulchre by the sea
    Marble to slumber beneath
    Lulled by a mountain stream
    And outside these walls
    The night knows us all
    In dark woods wandering

    Detached of our soul
"Pour wine and dance if manhood still have pride
Bring roses if the rose be yet in bloom
All wisdom shut into his onyx eyes
Our Father Rosicross sleeps in his tomb"
    (W.B.Yeats, Frater D.E.D.I.)
    In Arcadia ego
How fast the years did go
And how bitter is the wind
    Blowing from shores of Arcady
    Outside these walls
    The night knows us all
In dark woods the roses grow
    In hardship the soul

What about Pavement, Radiohead, My Bloody Valentine, Neutral Milk Hotel, Bjork, Guided by Voices, Smashing Pumpkins etc etc etc? People are silly to just settle with mainstream in my opinion.

I know what you mean. I just didn't want to list all great bands of the decade, just a few that came to my mind first. You could continue the list almost forever; Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bad Religion, Rage Against the Machine, Bob Marley and so on.

Have you ever heard a band Kingston Wall? Take a ten, close your eyes and just let the music take you away for the next 10 mins.

In grunge it's like this: I am so sad with my life, let's go listen to Kurt Cobain crying so we can cry some more. Glam is more like this: I am so sad with my life, let's go listen to some loud hard rock and have a good time. I am not saying that glam is the best kind of music. They were wannabe machos who dressed up like girls. But it's definately better than Nirvana.

Glam was crap but Nirvana was not. Have you even seen Nirvana perform live?. Glam was more like this: I am so happy with my life, let's go and get massive amounts of cocaine and heroin, overdose, get taken to the hospital and be revived, escape the hospital and do it all over again.

Nirvana live? No, I was not around back then. But I have seen videos. The only thing I liked was Unplugged. That was good indeed. But the other stuff was just bad. Guns n Roses on the other hand was an awesome band to see live. Axl singing his lungs out while running around and Slash playing that guitar as a god.

Then what the hell is real punk then? Bands like Anti-Flag? Because I like them too.

    except for Greenday
I've never understood this animosity many people have toward Greenday. They've been around for over twenty years now. They must be doing something right.

Possibly because they released one punk album and then found a profitable direction to go in...sigh.

Grunge is great. Wonderfully painful lyrics. Really puts this emo garbage to shame. Not good if you're feeling down though

    Soundgarden is all-around good.
AiC...Layne Staley made them. Love em to death.
I have some trouble getting into Nirvana. I like some of it. Not all. Only real conclusion is that Cobain was a seriously...troubled man.
Recently started expanding into Pearl Jam. I like the early stuff. Eddie Vedder knew what he was doing.

Smashing Pumpkins are of course great. Same generation as the grunge bands but obviously took a different direction with their music, more...I dunno, intellectual?

The Offspring are kinda cool. I hate to say it almost but I like their more popular stuff (IE: come out and play, self-esteem, pretty fly)

For whatever reason I can't bring myself to start listening to Creed.

And maybe some more rambling thoughts later.
