stuck on game startup loading screen

Not sure if anyone can help with this matter but Napolean was working fine on my computer a few months ago, so there is no problem with the specifications or anything.
But, when I went to play it again a few months ago, the steam startup completed fine, but then on the 1st Napolean Total War in game loading screen, it just froze and dosent go any further.
This now happens every time I play it, I have to use Alt, Ctrl, Del to get off it.
I have tried re installing the game several times from the disk, or off steam but the same thing keeps happening.
Can anyone help with this matter?

Thanks for the prompt response. But do you mean remove steam from my PC (again?) and then re-download it, and sorry to be obtuse, but how do I varify my game cache? I only have seen how to register the product with steam initialy.

You don't need to uninstall Steam. Just download it. It just updates itself but you are fooling it into thinking you are new being anonymous.

Thanks for the advice, but alas it makes no difference. I followed those steps but it still froze on the ingame starting up screen. Is there anything else I could try?

Could it not be that it's just that save that broke down. Might be a stupid suggestion, but have you tried starting a new campaign yet?

Could be. Corrupt saves are common with this game.

No I think you misunderstand, the game startup screen itself after the little box from steam dissapprears is what is freezing, I cant even get onto the ingame menu.

Try installing direcx 9.0c, C++ 2005 SP1, and .Net framework 4.

Thanks Irishron: there are my spesifications, quite poor to be playing the game I know, but it used to run fine so I dont understand why its stopped.

CA has proven to change the game's specs with patches and leave lowend computers a little farther behind.
Your cpu falls below minimum CA specs but I've read about it running on worse.
Would you post the full dxdiag, please? I know it's large.

That happens to Me to.Just use the check file integrity in the steam launcher,some files are broken or missed in your game.

I am getting the same problem as well. Except this time I get an error message that says something about the GameOverlayUI.exe Anyone know what that is? lol

Yeah, it's trying to load a missing file. Verify your game cache via Steam.
