    Default The Source of the Monk?

    You know the intro movie, with the talking monk? Yeah, the bald guy talking after SfX/CA/SEGA labels come up. Which files dictates which .bik file (video format used for game) to use?

    For the individual factions, it's descr_faction_movies.xml (located in data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign) which dictates which file to use of those located in fmv\faction. I need to find the one for the main intro, and it would be cool if some one who know-how, also can tell where to change the events too

    I checked this guide, but it just tells me to change Vanilla files, but I need to make one which can be placed in a mod. And yeah, I already got the intro sorted out in .bik format.

    Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
    I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

    In a mod (I checked the teutonic) it is in Medieval II\mods\teutonic\data\fmv\faction and the intro movie name is teutonic_game_intro.bik

    Try replacing the file with yours, maybe that will work.

    That wouldn't work, since it's currently using the a Monk video which isn't even located in the mod's fmv -folder. The mod's fmv -folder is empty except for the manu\dump which act in the backround of the menu.

    I also tried to change the file in Vanilla and keep the name (SEGA\Medieval II Total War\data\fmv\demo_mtw2_campaign.bik), but even that didn't work + I'm making this for a mod foldered, so I need to find the file which dictates the location of the monk video (or any other main intro to another mod to compare with).

    It's technicaly to describe, so kudos for hanging in there

    This is your folder: ...\Medieval II Total War\data\fmv\faction

    You have the intro movies there (game, major, minor).

    But you could put them anywhere in the fmv folder, they are defined in descr_faction_movies:

    <faction>
    <name>england</name>
    <intro>faction/major_intro.bik</intro>
    <victory>faction/england_win.bik</victory>
    <defeat>faction/england_lose.bik</defeat>
    <death>faction/england_lose.bik</death>
    </faction>

    What monk video are u after?
    the demo_mtw2_campaign.bik is something different that we see in the game intro.
    So for which faction intro u want it?
    there is descr_faction_movies.xml that has:

    <faction>
    <name>england</name>
    <intro>faction/major_intro.bik</intro>
    <victory>faction/england_win.bik</victory>
    <defeat>faction/england_lose.bik</defeat>
    <death>faction/england_lose.bik</death>
    </faction>
    For every faction in the imperial_campaign folder.

    Edit
    Gig nailed it first.

    Exactly! This is what Im looking for.

    Im not that good in explaining stuff in english, but I described "We use these files when operating with individual faction intro's", and "...But I'm looking for these kinds of files when dealing with the game intro".

    Let me get it from youtube, hold on

    here we go

    As I said, the fmv folder is empty, except for the dump.bik which contain the menu backround. This is abit confusing. I have no idea to pass this one

    Why do I think the dump file is a compressed file with all those along with the screen credits one?
