    Default Windowed Mode not working and sub-mod problem...

    Before going into my problems, awesome work to everyone involved in producing such a high quality mod and I'm currently having a ball playing it.

    I currrently have two problems;

    The first is the fact I can't play the game in Window Mode for some reason. I've searched the SS forum with things such as window mode but I'm barely getting any info, and many of them are no help to my problem. I read you need to edit the default file in the SS mod folder. This is how mine is currently:

    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    [launcher]
    kingdomsDir=..\..
    swapMenuBackground=true
    swapMenuMusic=true
    swapBAI=true
    autoLocateLogFile=true
    autoBorderlessMode=true
    steamCheck=true
    firstRun=false
    [features]
    mod=mods/SS6.3
    [log]
    to=mods/SS6.3/system.log.txt
    level=* error
    level=* trace
    [io]
    file_first=true
    [video]
    no_background_fmv=true
    grass_distance=9000
    unit_detail=highest
    windowed=true
    borderless_window=true
    movies=false[/quote]

    I read that the windowed, bordeless_window and autobordelessmode all had to be true, however before editing the file they were all already selected as true. I thought I may have read the information wrong so I tried putting them to false but to no avail. I've also tried to edit the main medieval.preference file in the main MWII folder to windowed = 1 (which is what I did on the vanilla MWII to get windowed) but that didn't help either. Is there something I've missed or am doing wrong?

    Secondly this is more of a bug but may as-well put this in here (should be put in the sub-mod section actually...) but the Heir Ancillary sub-mod in-which you can choose your next faction heir doesn't seem to work. In my England campaign I click on the Heirs Crown on my current Heir and move/drag it to who-ever I want to be my future heir. Then I kill either my Heir or King off and instead of the Prince/Heir going to who has the attribute of the Heirs Crown it instead goes to a random in the family tree.

    Thanks for the help.

    Set autoBorderlessMode=true to autoBorderlessMode=false, leave the rest as it is and the NHA question is likely already answered in the NHA topic.

    The file in question is default.cfg, to be opened with the default text editor notepad.

    autoBorderlessMode=true only sets the windowed borderless mode to on if the desktop resolution is the same as the ingame resolution.

    I think thats all information needed - and basicly it's been already posted, several times of it by me, so if the issue comes up I'd be glad if folks get pointed to this post as I always get a eery feeling when quoting myself and I hope to avoid it whenever and wherever possible

    I tried that and I still get full screen, not windowed even when I edit it exactly as shown. Do I have to edit anything else other then the default file (which I edit with notepad)?

    Do you have the loading bar showing after alt-tabing out of the game and back into the game?

    I don't get a loading bar after alt-tabbing. Oh I think I might of gotten 'windowed mode' confused? I can easily alt-tab in and out of the game without any loading times and do other things other then MWII with that but I was thinking (from using windowed = 1 in vanilla MWII) that window mode was actually windowed down, smaller then my screen resolution (1920x1080)?

    That means windowed mode is working, that's one of the main reasons to have it active. Also the AI turn keeps running while you check out the latest news in your firefox or brush up on your Spanish.

    You overcomplicated that a bit. That's only the case if your ingame resolution is less then 1920x1080. Think of your current medieval window as a "maximized" one if that helps. When I play on my laptop I often run the game in 1024x768 on a 1440x900 base resolution - with just the same = false settings as I gave you in that cfg. If you want it "windowed" windowed change the resolution of the game to a smaller one and it will run in a smaller window.

    My real problem is the fact I can't use 'windowed' windowed mode. I change the in game resolutions to smaller then my base resolution of 1920x1080 and apply the changes however the only thing it does is pixelize the quality of the game and I can't click on anything when my mouse is directly over it (for instance a back button) so I need to move it around further to find the sweet spot. It still stretches to 1920x1080 even when I have the campaign res on something like1280x768 etc.

    Try deactivating borderless and doubleclick the top bar of medieval to see if it normalises things. Strange.

    Cheers!

    I've gotten it to work eventually. I need to set borderless_window to true and that brings it into windowed 'windowed' mode however I still cant change the resolution past 1920x1080. I need to set borderless to false, change the resolution to something smaller and then change the borderless_window to true again and then I can change the resolution freely. Very strange indeed.

    Anyways thanks for your help bane, really helped and should be a good place to redirect other people looking for help on this matter. +rep again when I can.
