Starting Generals

Am I the only one a little annoyed that Marshals like Lannes, Soult, Suchet and others don't start at the beginning of the game? I would just like to have a more historic start point with the generals.

actaully I daresay there are lots of people who think the same way as you

any more marshals and there would be far too many for the relative soldiers. thats the only reason
so im afraid none of the options apply to me

They start with Ney because amoung gamers, he the most known to the non historic crowd, when he was in the lower percentage of the best Marshals, but this is already other thread so I'll go back on topic!

Lannes should defently be there!

Davout, Massena, and Ney are essential. Not sure about Murat.
But the lack of Lannes is really annoying. I can only recruit Marechal Brune (which is not very famous) at the start. I only recruited Lannes once in my 5 campaigns.

I know, Lannes, Soult and Suchet are so far down on their command list. Then they have Marchand, Brune and others near the top who held such insignificant roles. If I were them, I would have attached Lannes to Napoleon's army at the game start and also give Soult some troops in Paris, just to show the leading marshals at the time. Ney and Murat, entertaining as they were, didn't have the same level of independent command as Soult or Lannes in 1805.

Murat, commanding the Cavalry Reserve, can't command on its own of course.
But Ney already held independent command in 1805. Even more independent than Lannes and Soult (Napoleon needs to supervise Soult's assault at Austerlitz himself) in my opinion.
Napoleon sent Ney's corps to occupy Tyrol by himself. He defeated Archduke John and captured Innsbruck in 1805.
