The Fourth Age open for modders! (please ask for permission!)
I hope some modding group will like my idea, sooooo this mod is about a Non-Canon version of what happened a few years after Return of the King & the War of the Ring where Gondor plunges into a grand civil war making three factions: Gondor (duh lol), The Baron's Alliance (haven't really thought of a name Gondorian yet), and the Republic of Dol Amroth(unplayable), then there is the Harad & Rhun remnants along with a few orcs. so i'm thinking just to be a few new factions and a new campaign. If any Third age sub modders feel like making this they can but please ask for permission. as for new units i was thinking for factions (tell me if you like them or not):
Baron's Alliance
Gondor Infantry
Gondor Archers
Gondor Calvary
Gondor Spearmen
Baron Guard (they have heavy armor and a Halberd or a Pole Axe)
All Gondor Militias
Baron Rangers (haven't thought of a real name, but they have leather to start then they upgrade to partial plate or mail and can stealth in trees and are good at melee)
thats about it right now can't think of much else
Gondorian Loyalists(i thought of a new name since this one would make more sense)
All regular Gondor troops accept for Swan Knights & Dismounted Swan Knights (Maybe More later)
Republic of the Swan
All Gondor units accept for fountain guard & Ithillien Rangers
For the Republic of Dol Amroth the reason there unplayable is because they may join your faction (either The Baron's Alliance or Gondor whoever gets them to join first gets to keep them) i do not know the goals yet but you guys will keep me posted (hopefully
)
well thats all for now Thanks!
and make sure to give ideas!
oh and if you try to attack Dol Amroth there gonna have good defense armies because there only going to own 3-5 places and they will attack if your in there territory if anyone likes it and the goal of the day is anyone can think of a new name? The Gondorian Civil War maybe?
Faction Leaders!
Gondor Loyalists
High King Aragorn
Baron's Alliance
Grand Baron Vuel
Republic of the Swan
Lord Imrahil(i'm not sure if he's alive or not if he is he stays if not then i'll have to think of someone else.

Welcome to the forum. Just so you know you can't claim ownership of an idea, only the actual work done. It's just how things work in the modding business.
There's a very nice Fourth Age mod for RTW here if you need ideas or just want to play in this period.

Re: The Fourth Age open for modders! (please ask for permission!)
Welcome as JAL said but your idea is to close to the RTW Fourth Age mod which is a great mod and they are still expanding on it, so you would have to come up with a new idea but that's not hard at all and I have one but I do not have the time to learn to mod at the moment even though I would like to learn soon but if more experienced modders wonted to help that would be cool maybe we could see if we can get a team together on a small sub mod any takers
Edit: If anyone wants to here my idea for a Fourth Age "SUB MOD" pm me or we can talk about it here.

Re: The Fourth Age open for modders! (please ask for permission!)
This submod looks great, but i have some suggestions.
1. Get the map higher up and add dunland and rohan and Rhun(which you have but i dont think they would have any regions) as playable factions, maybe even higher so you can add dwarves of khasad dum and lorien. You could also add it even higher to add all factions and you could keep the old map.
2. Add druadan faction cause that would be awesome
3. If the map is greatly expanded you could make the pope for the dunedain factions cause that would eb kinda cool. The civil war will probabnly still happen cause i dont think the pope is that big a factor atleast in my vanilla games.

Settle down. The "idea ownership" thing has been explained, no need to poison the well.

I don't want to sound like a complete dick or anything, but it is not your idea. Tolkien actually wrote something very similar to this a long time ago, but scrapped the idea because it was already done to death in the LOTR and other works. I believe his main reason was he thought it would not have really added anything original or important to the story of Middle-Earth.
The New Shadow was an incomplete sequel (approximately 13 pages) to The Lord of the Rings that Tolkien quickly abandoned. It is set in the time of Eldarion, Elessar's son, approximately 105 years after the Fall of the Dark Tower. In it is mentioned the Dark Tree, and two characters: Saelon and Borlas.
Tolkien commented this on it:
"I did begin a story placed about 100 years after the Downfall, but it proved both sinister and depressing. Since we are dealing with Men it is inevitable that we should be concerned with the most regrettable feature of their nature: their quick satiety with good. So that the people of Gondor in times of peace, justice and prosperity, would become discontented and restless — while the dynasts descended from Aragorn would become just kings and governers — like Denethor or worse. I found that even so early there was an outcrop of revolutionary plots, about a centre of secret Satanistic religion; while Gondorian boys were playing at being Orcs and going around doing damage. I could have written a 'thriller' about the plot and its discovery and overthrow — but it would have been just that. Not worth doing." – The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien, Letter 256)
I will be making a Fourth Age mod most likely, but it will involve a huge invasion from the South by Ungoliant and her spawn. It will also have some elements of The New Shadow in it.

Re: The Fourth Age open for modders! (please ask for permission!)
yeah i knew it wasn't my idea i just thought of this one day with a little twist but i give full credit to Tolkien for this i know it is very close i thought instead of mordor and tons of orcs how about a civil war of Gondor thanks for telling me that by the way i remember reading that he scrapped it somewhere i guess i forgot it but still this would be cool i take no credit though just if a modding team wants to do this please ask for permission to use it because i haven't seen a mod yet with any civil war antics.

I don't think there are any for M2TW, but the Fourth Age mod for RTW follows The New Shadow plot with civil war and all that jazz. I haven't played it myself, so I don't know how it turned out.
Either way, I doubt anyone will ask you for permission to use the civil war idea that has been around since the books themselves and released in previous mods.
