Faeghi resigned, unfortunately. But the mod is really progressing fast right now. The map finally doesn't give any CTDs anymore, we now just have to get all those regions back in without messing up, which may take a few more days.

    Some are, but others...
Fortunatly Kaweh K. currently revamps some of them as they are not historic (e.g. Media).

The caananite one seems very strange. Is it historically accurate? Didn't they have phenician symbols, as they were apparented, instead of greek ones?

Rez already showed you the basis, however you may be interested in further information.

The Greek appearance of the soldiers is rather easy to explain, since Greek as well as Phoinikian cities employed heavy citizens' infantry. The helmets similar to the Greek's helmets were noted by Herodot, btw. (cf. Hdt. VII 89,1). About the ships I don't need to say anything, I think.

The galley itself continuously appears on the coins of Sidon, beside Tyros the most important city, while the symbol below is a hippocamp usually ridden by Melkart, most important God of the Phoinikians and protector of the ships. That hippocamp is often featured on Tyrian coins.

So this faction icon represents the most important cities of Phoinikia and moreover it displays the reliance on naval power and the heavy citizen infantry. I think it was a wise choice.

Taken from an authentic Phoenician coin.

Thx for the info, FliegerAD, the pictured helmets had thrown me into confusion. Your wiseness only equals the depth of my ignorance.

Don't say such things! You are not ignorant, otherwise you would not have asked. And it will take some time, until I can be called "wise"...

btw, Kaweh K.'s overhaul of this is inmidst development, I saw the new icons of Babylon and Media and they look great.
