    Default The Random Factor

if every game we played were identical or rather very similiar this game would lose flavour and not have such replay value.

One game England conquers france and one game HRE just get destroyed another they conquer the world. this random factor is very nice but just a small part of what could be possible.

Now there are alot of restrictions in the making of a Medieval 2 mod, I wonder thou if it were possible to add Random Start location ? With everyone starting with just 1 city, this ofc would be something totaly diffrent but would never the less rock.

Why not make the spearmen attack value a randomized number between 1 and 50? and the number of deaths caused by a plague 2000^x, where x is a randomized number between 2 and 10?

Play the Custom Campaing Mod/Retrofit (Ï'm not really sure about the name but you can play with all vanilla factions with random settlements.
And LTC also did something similar to this.

    That is impossible.

I mean, shoot, you could do it manually.

Just assign a number to every province in SS. Then use a random number generator to assign the values for every faction. Then manually mod it into desc_strat. Helluva lot of work, but considering how long campaigns last in TW, that is manageable.

The only problem here is that it would take all the fun out for most of SS players. This is very much arcade-ish. You are welcome to do it for yourself though...

Another problem, can you imagine how awful it would be to start only with a region like Rhodos? Or as a North European faction on the steppes?

Well, for some it may mean that they have a secure base right in the centre of the map. That is a positive aspect. However, M2TW is not that hard that you will be continuously attacked right from the start.

It's not possible and not feasible and not fun at all.

Changing a 199 settlements manually for the sake of fun.

Search and replace to turn all settlements into rebels, then turn 30 back over to factions. If that isn't fun.

I wanna see the mass of gray with spots of pretty colors, wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Assuming anyone is willing to recode so much...

Back 6 months ago in the M2TW AAR forum, someone did an AAR with all the factions having random provinces. It was for the vanilla game.

Originally I thought he had gone into the files and given each faction a random set of provinces, but after checking it out again, he had actually conquered the entire world and then gave different factions a random smattering of provinces. He then sat back in Ireland to see which faction would dominate.

It seems the Scots were able to get the advantage and became the dominate force.

This is probably the closest you'll see to randomized positions

Easiest way for the average user would still be to migrate. Pack your stuff, call a crusade, and resettle halfway over the map.

Been playing straight 6.3 to test some changes and decided to try Slaughters CAI... usually use Gracul but I just wondered if there is any triggers for AI DoW's that are known?

IE- decided to play Aragon for a small test game and was pretty much just hitting turn over and over again when on turn 16 Genoa, Moors, Leon, and France all DoW on the same turn. Moors and Leon also go to war as do Genoa and France that same turn. So obviously some threshold for the AI was passed but does anyone know what that might be?

Actually a random map generator would be possible. But you'd have to write an external program to do it so that it builds the descr_strat text file. Not worth the effort IMO.
