Why do people camp? (new information comes to light)

So I hosted a battle the other day and a nine star general joins. Well seeing as I have 9 well polished stars I was thinking that it would be a good match of skills and wit. Well I go with 15 Prussian fusiliers and only 2 lancers this time, the reason being that I wanted to try upgrading my lights. Also lancers were nerfed last patch as to make them less effective. My opponent takes the Ottoman Empire. Well the battle starts and I see my opponent has no less then 15 Cemat Janissaries, and 4 deli cav and a general. This is what I would consider a rush build, but he never moves. In fact I had to cross the whole field while he just sat there. Only when my lights got into firing range did he do a rush with all his men at once. Well I send 3 of my lights into melee to hold his army up while the rest of my men fired with the speed and accuracy of old guard units! I managed to rout his whole army without the loss of a single unit, even his cav lost in melee thanks to the upgrades I had purchased. My lights performed like Spartan worriors:sparta: A good game to him, 1st time in 2 weeks I have been able to play without a hacker. Also the closest someone got to routing a unit of mine in well over 6 months.
Anyway the point of this story is that contrary to popular belief, campers do indeed know how to move units. I always thought it was because their brain capacity was to small to grasp how a mouse works, and how to left click. But this guy just proved me wrong. I can understand camping on a hill or with art. Hell, I even understand that camping behind stakes. But this guy had absolutely nothing, and had no reason to sit still on grassy flats!


So my question is, Why do they camp without reason???

its not that hard in fact major hems brother is has only an avarage record i havent lost a single men inthe last 5 years of playing ntw

Maybe he had to go afk when the game started loading?
I had something like that once, did a Quick Battle, guy doesn't move...
First I think he's camping, approach carefully, but he still doesn't move at all!
When I have him down to three units, he starts to move them into nearby forests, but far too late obviously.
He must have been away at first, I have no other explanation.

You make an excellent point Daniu, I would 100% agree with if it wasn’t for the fact that my opponent did shift his general and deli cav a few times as I marched across the field.

Exactly... how is he going to lose a man then?

Well there is a N:TW mod made for medieval: Total War. Maxfaren may have been referring to that.

lol, no fair, i guess i only got a 17 year unbeaten streak which ended in april or whenever i got the game.gg to my opponent that day XD

15 lights? wow that's serious overkill

just a little.then again, range helps a fair bit against melee inf.its when they catch u youre in trouble

Daniu, maxfaren is referring to the last 5 years. While he may not have lost any men in the previous 4 years, if he bought the game at all then he is sure to have lost men this year. Even I, a Hemorrhoid member losses on average 15-20 men per battle. This is due more to friendly fire then to actual enemy bullets. Hence the lack of my belief in maxfarens story.

sometimes it happens under pressure, or you dont line up your units perfectly, or a couple soldiers shoot through your men at a target...
