cache error?!

ive had this game for about two weeks and have had no other problem then the normal crash once and a while that apparently everyone is but now im super mad. i now try to open the game and it says " An unhandled exception has occurred in your application." thens says if i click continue it will run and ignore error or if i cancel it will quit. the error says " could not find a part of the path "C:\Program files (x86) \SEGA\medieval II total war\cache"
the chache obviosly is goofing up and heres the big problem... all of my saved games are gone and i cant save anymore or they will be gone next time i load the file.
i have uninstalled the game and reinstalled but no prevail. i am only having this problem with what it seems to be the basic total war game and not with kingdom's. please help becuase until someone helps me im stuck with playing custom battles.
update: i now tested saving with kingdom's and it says "cannot save game to disc" i have checked disc and it is perfect and has no sign of any problems. please help becuase i paid for this game and have been enjoying it.

Are you using Vista or Win 7? 32bit or 64bit? Is UAC enabled or disabled?

Are you logged in as Administrator? In the Medieval2 icon, have checked XP SP3 compatibility and "Run as Administrator"?

For two, are we talking Medievl2 dvd, Kingdoms dvd, Gold, or download and if so from where? Do you have any mods installed?

For three, to disable the UAC, http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/1...-in-windows-7/ . For Total War games it causes more grief than it's worth.

For four, right-click the Medieval2 icon, click properties and you can check compatiblity and administrator boxes. While you're there, click the security tab and see if your login has full administrative rights.

It's not a bad system. Wish it was the 64bit version but we'll make do for now.

1. CA specs say 128mb dedicated graphics memory for integrated chips. You only have 64mb but if it works, okay.
2. The RealTek sound drivers are already a year old. Should have new ones at www.guru3d.com.

After that, your issues are with Microsoft over Win 7 and its security issues. I for one have had no trouble with Win 7, 64 bit. I have also learned how to get some to do what I want but I'm not at your computer to help you through it. The things that I know that work for Total War games from experience are

1. Disable the UAC. Don't need it on a single user pc.
2. Install the games in a folder like C:\Games to bypass at least one security layer.
3. In the C: drive icon, properties, seurity, advanced, in my login take full ownership of the drive, files, folders, and child files and folders.

for disable the UAC thing the directions confusied me about the misconfig thing and if i install the sound drivers and i still have the same problem is their any other way to fix it?
