I've had the game for a couple of years and only recently it gave me this problem my system specs are:

512mb Video Card
Windows Vista
3GB Ram
2.1 Processing Power

Have you made any changes to your system or M2 installation recently? Add any new software to the system or added a mod to M2?

This error can be a pain to lock down on occasion. Could you give us your full DX log? If you don't know how here it is:

DxDiag is easy to run if you have any knowledge of Windows. Go to the "Start" button and in that menu choose "Run Program" option ("Run..." in Vista IIRC). In the pop-up field type "dxdiag" and press enter. This is the DirectX test program - let it finish the test. After the test is finished choose the button toward the bottom labeled "Save All Information..." and save it to your desktop. Next open up this forum and post the results by copying and pasting directly to the forum. Please don't post attachments as they take up more space and time - just copy and paste. Please post ALL info and if you can please wrap it in a spoiler tag to minimize page size.

I actually formatted my pc awhile ago, didn't change anything yet as the mods I make are simple and go away once I quit the game, as in I have to reset the mod as I noticed.

Did you reinstall your motherboard chipset drivers, especially the onboard sound drivers?
What do you have against Vista SP2?
Did you reinstall directx 9.0c? Dx10 and 11 do not have those drivers no matter what Microsoft tells you.

I don't have anything against Vista SP2(I don't think) I was actually going to mention to alot of the Vists haters to not comment as Vista has never given me problems.

Can't, don't know how...

I'll see about reinstall Dx9, I think I reinstalled them all as older games I play said they required me to install it.


Update: Reinstalled Dx 9.0c, same error as I described...

Further Update: tried running using XP SP2 and Administrator, same error as mentioned.

I did not like Vista because of the cultural shock going from XP and earlier versions.

Running Windows Update manually and installing all software options would update your .Net framework and vc libraries.

I nstall them all. If my graphics card craps out, I have it for backup. I have a 9800GT 512mb card.

It never says what it deleted. Run Windows Update manually and install all software options if you have not done so. You maybe pleasantly surprised, yet.

I uninstalled and rerinstalled the game, I unpacked the game at one point, but I didn't delete any files at all, since nothing could solve it, I'm hoping this will, alot of the patches I've found are weird, not your typical installation patch...

Back to square one. What version of the gem do you have as in Medieval2dvd, Kingdoms dvd, Gold, download? It make all the differences in which patch.

611mb US version. With a dsl connection, the only things you need running are Vista, firewall, and download. Any autoupdaters including Windows, ims, multitasking, disable before download. Now for about two hours go watch a movie. This thing is that sensitive.
