I have some regions with devastation for 100+ turns. No rebels or enemies but still the devastation remains. Anything I can do to get rid of it ?
Playing SS 6.4 with MSC on top.
Check this topic for the answers as apparantly you didn't find them with a forum search. For example this post.
Merged.
Skmimming over the thread pointed out above, i noticed something.. Can you edit that family tree area, and end up with 5 kids, instead of 4?
Dear all
It seems I'm having a little problem trying to bring back devastation to SS 6.4 and unfortunately I couldn't find any help in some of the other threads regarding this tropic.
I'm playing the Late Campaign with SS 6.4 and have "manually" installed Meneth 2YPT from his Compilation. By manually I mean only using his Campaign Script and descr_events and editing the strat myself. It seems to work perfect.
As I understood the two things necesarry to get the devastation effect back is to 1)Remove the ageing script (done with Meneths campaign script) and 2) re enable the devastations point in the descr_campaign_db.
But it doesn't work<allow_resource_forts bool="false"/> <!-- do we allow forts and watchtowers to be built on resource locations -->
<fort_devastation_distance uint="20"/> <!-- maximum movement point extents for determining devastation tile targets for forts -->
<army_devastation_distance uint="20"/> <!-- maximum movement point extents for determining devastation tile targets for field armies -->
<fort_devastation_modifier float="1.0"/> <!-- num devastated tiles modifier for forts -->
<army_devastation_modifier float="1.0"/> <!-- num devastated tiles modifier for field armies -->and I have also tried to delete map.rwm, but still nothing...
NEW* I reinstalled SS 6.4 and did the same things and now it works![]()

Ok so here's what I have learnt about devastation in SS 6.4 - don't know how much of this you know but thought I would stick it all down in an effort to be vaguely helpful to you and anyone else who wanders by...
It is bugged if turned on in vanilla 6.4, the devastation is permanant and the only way to get it back is to change to 2TPY (but thats better anyway IMO!) - this is easy enough as I have found out
Just follow these steps to change to 2TPY easily (without any of the fuss you mentioned) and then turn back on the devastation:
1.Run SS_Setup, choose your options then close it with the cross in the top right (i.e. without going to "exit and start")
2. Go to SS6.3\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign, open campaign_script.txt and delete or comment out the "ageing script"
3. Open descr_strat.txt and change timescale to 0.50
4. information on how to turn devastation back on is in this thread, in the middle of some other info:
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...ht=devastation
5. Finally Run SS_Launcher (DON'T RUN SS_SETUP AGAIN - it overwrites the files you just changed)
And there you have it, 2TPY with devastation working properly

"the only way to get it back is to change to 2YPT"
If you mean TPY, which seems implied by the rest of what you wrote, you should edit your post so you don't confuse people.
thanks k/t - done
