Afghan and Taliban peace talks?

Does anyone think these will actually go anywhere? I'm curious as to your opinions.

yes.. usa is gonna leave in a few years at the least ... and even though they r gonna leave a little contingent just in case

goes crazy.. the nation needs to be stabilized so the mining operations can properly proceed

probably it'll be clandestine, a little truce.. the taliban gets to rule areas.. the afghan army rules other areas.. etc

or hopefully we'll beat them

but they have an advantage.. the afghan people see us as temporary, but they realize the taliban will kill them once we leave.. so they appear as more of an longterm group

Ongoing War does not really stabilize the country. I can in some cases though like Vietnam. After we left the North unleashed hell and conquered the south. However, I dont think the Afghan Army will be capable of unleashing hell after we leave and toppling the Taliban if they cant even do that now.

I doubt very much the Afghan government is going to allow the Taliban to dictate terms like killing women and other crazy

. Most likely any agreement will be between sympathetic groups and the government.

America wants to leave now as they have realized that they cannot win war, on the other hand Taliban have also realized that this is not pre 9/11 world and they are not welcome if they want to rule by force, they have realized that they can keep Nato busy but cannot win war, so negotiations are necessary and took place in U.A.E. and as I told earlier news are good for America and the region, I hope.

Here's an idea. Let's withdraw and wait for them to crawl out of the mountainside like insects after dark. Let them lay siege to Afghan towns, then reinvade right on the border and take out all of the exposed commanders.

That would call for American commanders to use their brains.
