    Default tips against sarmation

like it says any tips cos im getting wupped. it takes 2 legions just to beat an half army of horsarcher.
so therefore i cant win any autobattles here.
only battles i can seem to win are bridge battles.
im massing armies now just to wear them out and go on the offensive. no fun if every army is elite composition.

You must adapt. Field lots of slingers, archers, and light cavalry yourself
to counter their strengths, maybe so heavier cavalry to.
It's is a different kind of warfare on the steppes.

I'm guessing you're playing H/H yes? Well for starters don't autoresolve battles. And bring a LOT of archers and slingers since they're the most cost effective way to deal with HAs. Avoid initiating battle unless necessary, let them attack you. So that in battle you can just set your army in defensive stance and the enemy HAs will come into your own range unit's line of fire. Also, try to find the highest point of the battlefield as you get a range advantage.

well i play on hard battle difficulty yes.
i know how to play on battlemap take high ground etc. its just i want to know what army composition is better. btw the gorse archers are actually very aggresive even more than heavy infantry troops
i traded in my cavalry for archers since i notice i rarely use them. i might use slingers tooo. didnt think of that.
also testudo formation is great just very slow.

Have your testudo soak up the arrows and your archers attack the HA.

Take a few heavy inf units you dont care about (maybe mercenaries?) march them out to get shot to bits, while the HA's are wasting their ammo, pound them with your foot archers.

Either that or use Testudo to soak up the arrows.
