Default You guys may hate me for this...

    Hi there,
I just recently installed RS2 (And it's freakin' amazing) but I wanted to try out other mods for Rome: Total War. So, I uninstall the game and reinstalled it but when I try to patch it up or even play for that matter it won't let me. For instance, when I try to play a new campaign or a custom battle, the options are grayed out. Now pops the big question, how do I play the Vanilla version again? Thanks a ton!

We did suggest that you installed RSII over a copy of the RTW game and not over the original install.

The reason this happens could be that you've not completely removed all traces of the game before the re-install or even where you've installed it to. As you've not posted anything about your install it's anyone's guess as to why this is happening. We do ask for certain details to be posted: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=386592

Alright, I made a mistake in installing over the original. Is there no way to restore RTW? I mean, I picked it's folder clean of RS2 and I even created a new folder for the re-installed RTW to go in.

Just Shift+Delete the Activision folder...If no other game is present in your Activision folder present in your PC....OR any other folder where ever you had had installed RTW or RS 2...Then restart your computer blah blah blah...And reinstall...Believe me buddy I've done it 10-12 times in a single day along with RTW,RTW:BI,RTW-Alexander

I think it's stated several places that RS 'breaks' vanilla RTW.

It's not mod foldered so it does overwite some of the RTW files.

I won't even install a 'mod foldered' mod onto my RTW install.

I don't know if it's possible to 'repair' a RTW install - I've seen that option available a few times when RTW has not been cpmpletely removed from the system prior to a reinstall. There is also the Windows Registry' to consider. I would have thought that would mean that what MemphisRex has posted won't work. However, I've been wrong in the past and I'll be wrong again in the future (or even now). I'd certainly try that before a uninstall/reinstall.

that's why any install should be made from the add/remove tool windows has...
this way you are sure it deletes everything and no problems appear, but even this can have some problems if the game wasn't installed correctly...

I wonder why nobody asked the guy if he`s using vista. Because I`m thinking it`s possible that he forgot to remove certain files when he uninstalled. For example:

Well we do ask for certain details to be posted along with an error - see post #2 where I include the link to the details we are after.

If they don't supply those details we can only guess.
